This Indenture made this 6th day of Sept in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Eleven between Vachel Clements and wife Lucresy of the County of Pitts.a of the one part and Vincent Dickenson of the County aforesd of the other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred & fifty pounds Current of Virginia to them the said Vachel Clements and wife Lucresy in hand paid the rec.t whereof they do hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained & sold unto the said Vincent Dickenson one Certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred and fifty five acres be the same more or less lying in the aforesaid County on the South side of Banister River and bounded as follows, to wit, Beginning at a pine on said River the Ja.s Blank line S. 218 degs W96 p. to a pine S. 18 E 31 po to a pine & white ash S 22 E 78 poles to a post oak in Turners lines along the same S 85 W 222 po to pointers N 50 E 92 poles to white oak N 12 E 126 poles to the river aforesaid thence down the same as it meanders to the begining, with all and every appurtenance thereto belonging unto the said Vincent Dickenson his heirs and assigns forever, and we Vachel Clements and wife Lucresy do by these presents bind our selves our heirs Executors and administrators forever to defend unto the said Vincent Dickenson a good and lawful title in the above mentioned one hundred and fifty five acres of land with every appurtenance thereto in any wise belonging from the Claim of us our heirs Executors administrators or from the Claim or Claims of any person or persons whatsoever In witness whereof we hereunto set our hands & Sealed with our seals the day and year above written.

The Commonwealth of Virginia to Joshua Stone Stephen Coleman and James M Williams Gentlemen Justices of Pittsylvania County greeting whereas Vachel Clement & Lucresy his wife by their certain Indenture of bargain and sale being dated the Sixth day of September 1811 have sold and conveyed with Vincent Dickenson one hundred and fifty acres more or less of land with the appurtenances situate lying and being in the County of Pittsylvania and whereas the said Lucresy Clement the wife of the said Vachel Clement cannot conveniently travel to our Court of our said County of Pittsylvania to make acknowledgment of the said Conveyance therefore we do give unto you or any two or more of you power to receive the acknowledgment which the said Lucresy shall be willing to make before you of the Conveyance aforesaid mentioned in the said Indenture which is hereto annexed and we do therefore command you that you do personally go to the said Lucresy and Examine her privately and apart from the said Vachel Clements her husband whether she doth the same freely and voluntarily without his pursuasions or threats and whether She be willing that the same be Recorded in our County Court of Pittsylvania aforesaid and when you have received her acknowledgment of the same and examined her as aforesaid that you distinctly and openly Certify us thereof in our said Court under your seals Sending them these the said Indenture and this Writ Witness William Turnstall Clerk of our said Court the Sixth day of September 1811 in the 36 year of the Commonwealth

Pittsylvania County, to wit,
In obedience to the within Commission to us directed we have proceeded to Examine Lucresy Clement the wife of Vachel Clement according to law, and that She freely relinquishes her right of Dower to the land mentioned in the Indenture hereto annexed and is willing the same Shall be Recorded for the benefit of the said Vincent Dickenson. Given under our hands and Seals this 6th day of September 1811

At a Court held for Pittsylvania County the 16 of September 1811 This Indenture from Vachel Clements and Lucresy his wife to Vincent Dickenson was presented in Court and presenting one witness and at another Court held for the said County the 21st of October 1811 The said Indenture was again presented in Court and proven by one other subscribing witness and at another Court held for the said County the 18th of November 1811 this Indenture was again presented in court and further proven by the other subscribing witness thereto to be the act and deed of the said Clements and with a Commission and Certificate of Execution Returned and ordered to be Recorded
