This Indenture
made the Twenty Eight Day of September in the year of Our Lord one thousand
Seven hundred and Seventy Eight Between John
Clement & Hannah his Wife of Pittsylvania County of the one part
and William Terry of Bedford County of the other part Witnesseth that the
sd. John Clement & Hannah
his Wife for and in Consideration of the sum of one hundred Pounds Current
money of Virginia to them in hand paid the Receipt whereof we doth hereby
acknowledge Hath granted Bargained Sold Released and Confirmd & by these
Presents doth grant Bargain sell Release & Confirm unto the said William
Terry and to his Heirs and Assigns forever one Certain Tract of Land Containing
two hundred and ten acres it being part of a Tract of Thirteen Thousand
five hundred & fifty acres granted by Pattent to Richard Randlph Gent.
deceas.d record being had thereto will may at Large Appear Lying & being
in Bedford County on both Sides of the North fork of Hunting Creek Including
the head of the sd. fork and is Bounded as followeth Viz Beginning at William
Morgans Corner Red Oak on sd. Pattent Land thence along Morgans line South
one hundred and Thirty Eight Poles to his Corner Chestnut thence dividing
lines South Eighty degrees East two hundred & Eight Poles to a Spanish
Oak thence North forty two degrees East fifty Poles to white oak thence
North one hundred & Twenty four Poles to Pointers on the line of the
sd. Pattent and thence along the Pattent line west Two hundred and forty
Poles to the first Station with all woods Swamps Meadows and all other Profits
and Commodities to the same belonging and all the Estate Right Title Interste
Claim and demand whatever of them the sd. John
Clement & Hannah his Wife of in & to the said Land & Premises
and every Part thereof To have and to Hold the sd. Track of Land and all
other the before Granted Premises with their Appurtenances unto the sd.
William Terry and his Heirs & Assigns forever to the only use and behoof
of him the sd. William Terry his Heirs and Assigns forever & the sd.
John Clement and Hannah his wife
for them and their Heirs the said Land and Premises against them and their
Heirs and all Persons Claiming from by or under him her them or any of them
to the said William Terry shall and will warrant and forever defend by these
Presents whereof the sd. John Clement
hath hereunto set his hand and Seal the day and Year above Written
Memorandome That on the day and Year first within Written Livery & Seizen of the within sold Land and Premises was acknowledgd. to be made and done by the within named John Clement & his wife to the within Named William Terry for him his Heirs & assigns forever
At a Court held for Bedford County the 28th day of September 1778 This Indenture together with the Memorandum of Livery of Seisin thereon Indorsed were Acknowledge by John Clement party thereto and ordered to be Recorded
