This Indenture made this 20th day of October 1817 between Joseph Martin
and Betty his wife of Barren County and State of Kentucky of the one part
and Vachel Clemments of the
County and state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said
Joseph Martin and Betty his wife for and in consideration of the sum of
forty two dollars to them in hand paid the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
have granted bargained and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell
unto the sd. Vachal Clements
and his Heirs forever a certain tract or parcel of Land Containing seventy
two acres lying and being in the County of Barren Including where the
said Clements now lives &
Beginning at Dennis Kellies Beginning Corner near the limestone spring
white oak tree and two hickory stumps thence S85 E 10 poles to a white
oak S 55 W 20 poles to three White Oaks stumps Timothy Puckets Beginning
corner thence with his line N75 W9 poles to three black Jacks and Post
Oak on the side of a knob his Corner thence to Dennis Kellys corner two
Post Oaks thence S 80 e 180 poles to the Begining with its appurtenances
to have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of Land with All and
singularly the appurtenances thereunto belonging to the only use and behoof
of the said Clements and his
Heirs forever and the said Martin doth hereby covenant and agree with
the said Clements and his Heirs
that him and his heirs will forever Warrant and defend the afersaid tract
of Land to the said Clements
and his Heirs forever from the claim of all and every person whatsoever
In Witness whereof the said Martin and wife hath hereunto set their hand
and seals the day & year first above Written

Barren County, To wit, County Court Clerks Office October 20th 1817
This Indenture from Joseph Martin & Betsy his wife to Vachel
Clemment was on the day of the date hereof acknowledged before me in
Office by the said Joseph Martin & wife to be their act and Deed she
the said Bitsy being by me privily examined apart from her said husband
relinquished her right to Dower in the Land specified in said Indenture
specified and thereupon the same was entered of Record
