This Indenture
made this twenty third day of April in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand
Seven hundred and Eighty three Between Philip Major and his wife of the
county of Amelia of the one part and Isham Johnson of the same County of
the other part Witnesseth that the said Phillip Major and his wife for and
in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds to them in hand
paid by the said Isham Johnson the receipt whereof they the said Philip
Major and his wife hath granted bargained sold and Confirmed and by these
Presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Isham Johnson his Heirs
& assigns for ever one certain Tract or parcel of Land Containing by
estimation one hundred acres be the same more or less being the same Land
that the said Phillip Major purchased of Thomas Ligon
formerly the property of Nathaniel Vasser and being in the County above
said in the branches of Sandy Creek and is bounded as followeth by the Lands
of James Mcglasson and the said Johnson Josiah Jackson and Levi Deaton with
all woods under Woods ways waters watercourses and all the Estate right
Title Interest Claim and demand whatsoever of them the said Phillip Major
and his wife unto the said one hundred acres of Land with the appurtenances
thereunto belonging To have & to hold the aforesaid Land and premises
with the appurtenances unto the said Isham Johnson his Heirs and assigns
for ever and the said Phillip Major and his wife for themselves and their
Heirs covenant and agree to and with the said Isham Johnson and his Heirs
and assigns that they the said Phillip Major and Mary Major his wife and
their Heirs shall and will Warrant and for ever defend the above granted
Land and Premises from the Claim of all and every person whatsoever In Witness
whereof the said Phillip Major and Mary Major his wife hath hereunto set
their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first above Written
