This Indenture
made this twenty third day of October in the Year of our Lord Christ one
Thousand Seven hundred & Sixty Six Between Bathsheba
Major of the parish of Raliegh in the County of Amelia of one partee
and James Barding of the same parish & County of the other part witnesseth
that the said Bathsheba Major
for divers Good Caused & Considerations him thereto moving but more
especially for & in Consideration of the Sum Sixty Pounds Current Money
of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said James Barding the Receipt whereof
he do thus hereby Acknowledge hath Given Granted Bargoned Sold Alined Released
& Confirmed and by these presents doth Give Grant Bargain Sell Alienate
Release & Confirm to the said James Barding & to his heirs &
Assigns forever a certain Tract or parcel of Land laying & being in
the county aforesaid Containing one hundred & two acres be the same
More or less and bounded as followeth to wit Beginning at William Hurts
Line thence along the said Line to a corner hiccory on Fords Line thence
along the said Line to John Hills Line thence along the said Line to William
Majors Line thence along the said Line to the Beginning and all buildings
woods & Underwoods Standing or Growing upon the Premises & all ways
elements Profits comodities and Appurtenances Whatsoever thereunto belonging
or in any wise Appurtaining and the Reversion & Reversions Remainder
and Remainders thereof and all Right use truse Intrust properly Claim and
Demand of her the said Bathsheba
of and in all & Singular the premises with all & every their Juridents
& all evedences wrightings or minumants of or Concerning the said Land
& premises To have & to hold the said Tract or parcel of Land with
all & Singular their appurtenances unto the said James Barding &
to his heirs & Assigns to their use & behoof of the said James Barding
& of his heirs and Assigns forever from the said Bathsheba
Major & her heirs and Assigns forever the said Tract or parcel of
Land and all & Singular the Premises therein before mentioned with all
the appurtenances unto the said James Barding his heirs & Assigns &
to his & only proper use & uses against the challenge claim &
Demand of all persons Whatsoever Shall & Will Warrant and forever by
these presents Defend In Witness Whereof the said Bathsheba
Major hath hereunto set her hand & Seal the Day & Year above
written
Memorandum that on the Twenty third day of October One Thousand Seven Hundred & Sixty Six Peaceable possession of the within mentioned Lands & Premises was Granted to the within named James Barding by Bathsheba Major Covenanter of these presents
At a Court held for Amelia County the 27th Day of November 1766 This Indenture and the memorandum endorsed where acknowledged by the within named Barsheba Major party thereto & Ordered to be Recorded.
