MEMORANDUM That a Commission of peace from the Honourable Lewis Burwell
Esqr. his Majesty's president and commander in Chief of this his Colony
and Dominion of Virginia, directed to Charles Irby, Richard Booker, John
Burton, John Nash Abraham Green Thomas Tabb William Watson George Walker,
Abraham Cock William Clement
Samll Terry William Archer Hezekiah Ford William Booker and Wood Jones
Gentlemen was this twenty fifth day of July one thousand Seven hundred
fifty one Received and the Same being read with the Didemus also and thereupon
as was directed Abraham Cock and William
Clement Administered the Oaths Appointed by Law to be taken to Charles
Irby who took the Same and read and subscribed the test and then took
the Oath of Justice of peace and then took the Oath of Justice in chancery
and having So Don the said Charles Irby administered the Oaths appointed
by Law to be taken to Richard Booker, Abraham Green, Thomas Tabb, Abraham
Cocke William Clement Samuel
Terry William Archer William Booker and Wood Jones who also Read and Subscribed
the test after which they took the Oath of a Justice of peace and the
Oath of a Justice in chancery and then Severally took there places upon
the bench.
