1785: At age 8 years he moved with his parents to Chester Co., Pennsylvania, where he was raised.

(1790-1867), and Henry L. (1802-76). A very active member of the Clemens family in Mennonite Church (MC) affairs was Jacob Cassel Clemens (1874-1965), who served as the first secretary of the Franconia (MC) Conference 1909-50, a minister in the same conference beginning in 1906, a member of the Mennonite Publication Board for many years."Tombstone:

Will of Mary Clemens, 14 November 1866
1 Mary Clemens, of the Town of Berlin, in the County of Waterloo, and the Province of Canada, Widow, being of sound mind, memory and understaxding do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner following:First, I Will and devise the sum of Five Hundred Dollars, of lawful money of Canada, unto Nancy Clemens, [ Nancy Groff Clemens' husband was a cousin of Mary's husband, Jacob] the Wife of John B. Clemens, her heirs and assigns forever, the said John B. Clemens having long since deserted his said Wife, this bequest is made to said Nancy Clemens, free from any control whatever of her said Husband. To be paid to her or her heirs or assigns as soon after my decease as conveniently can be.
Second, I Will and devise the sum of Five Hundred Dollars, lawful money of Canada, unto Christina Meuser, the Wife of Conrad Meuser, to have and to hold the same to her, her heirs and assigns forever, free from the control of her said husband. Also to be paid to her or her heirs or assigns as soon after my decease as conveniently can be.
Third, I Will and devise the sum of Five Hundred Dollars, lawful money of Canada, unto my adopted Daughter, Fanny Beasly, [Fanny"Beasly" was a Roman Catholic servant girl, aged 14 and living near the Eby farm] her heirs and assigns forever, to be paid to her on attaining the age of Twenty one years, or whenever she shall marry, but the interest in the meantime to be applied towards her support and education.
Fourth : I Will and devise the balance of the proceeds of all my Real and personal Estate whether derived from my Parents, my first Husband, Christian Eby deceased, or my second Husband, Jacob M. Clemens deceased, or from any other source, after deducting the foregoing bequests, and the payment of all my just debts, funeral and Testamentary expenses, equally between all my Brothers and Sisters or their legal representatives, to have and to hold forever.
And I do hereby appoint my Brothers, Samuel Cressman and Amos Cressman, the Executors and Trustees of this my Last Will and Testament.Will probated in the Surrogate Court, 4 May 1867, by A.J. Peterson. Copy held by Mennonite Archives of Ontario, Conrad Grebel College.
Christian Meuser may have been the wife of Conrad "Mautzer" who in the 1861 Census was identified as a luthern farmer on 27 acres in GCT117, near the Eby farm.
