Notes:
  • Laney's obituary. She was born in Stephens Co, TX. Her parents were W. P. Atwood and Ellen West.

  • From a column in the Abilene Reporter-News (dated Aug. 21, 1949) called The Road Runner by Hamilton Wright:
"The Planter's Gin - only one in the section - expects to exceed last year's slightly over 100 bales of cotton.  J. L. Straley, veteran gin man, thinks there's a prospect of double that number or more.
Straley, 64, was born at the junction of the two Jim Neds near Novice.  He has a twin brother, J. D. Straley who moved to Lampasas in 1927.  H. B. Straley, another brother who lived here until recently now is in Paul's Valley Okla. Charlie Straley, another brother, lives near Oplin."

  • Some Information found at the Pinnell Family Network.
