Claudius and Louise appear in the 1850 US Census for Mercer Co, VA: Claudius Burdett, age 28, Labourer, born VA Louisa J. Burdett, age 28, born VA Elizabeth J. Burdett, age 6, born VA Henderson F. Burdett, age 5, born VA Martha A. Burdett, age 4, born VA John W. Burdett, age 2, born VA The entry in the census before Claudius and family is for John Straley, age 58.
	2. Maj. Charles Decatur Straley Sr. "C. D." (b. c. 1825; d. Jun 29, 1890)   Notes: On the 1850 US Census for Mercer County, VA, Charles D. and Harrison Straley are shown in same household: Charles D. Straley, age 25, farmer, $2500 land value Hugh Bickham, age 24, laborer, born VA Harrison W. Straley, age 23, farmer, born VA C.D. served as a Major during the Civil War and he was often referred to as "Major" for his remaining 25 years. He never married.
	3. Arminta F. Straley "Minty" (b. c. 1829; d. 1883 in Bluefield, Mercer Co, WV; m1. Elijah BAILEY "Eli" (b. Feb 22, 1810, Mercer Co, WV; d. Sep 9, 1897 in Bluefield, Mercer Co, WV), m2. Unknown).   Notes: Arminta and Eli are buried in Tuggle Cemetery cem, Mercer Co, WV. The gravemarker is a triple headstone containing Eli, Arminta and Sarah Straley, Eli's first wife, Arminta's cousin.
	4. Harrison Wilson Straley Sr. (b. 1827, VA; d. Mar 3, 1905; m. Delilah Alexander BYRNSIDE "Delia" (b. c. 1834, VA; d. May 1888) on Mar 28, 1854) Children: Bettie Straley (died as an infant) Henry Straley (died as an infant) Kate A. Straley (m. William Maitland MAHOOD, who was a Circuit Judge in Mercer Co. WV) Charles Wilson Straley (b. 1858 in Plymouth Twp, Mercer Co, WV) Harrison Wilson Straley Jr. (b. c. 1868, WV) Skye V. John and Elizabeth appear in the 1850 US Census for Mercer Co, VA: John Straley, age 58, Farmer, $6000 land value, born VA Elizabeth Straley, age 52, born VA Arminta F. Straley, age 19 Dorcas E. Straley, age 18 Martha D. Straley, age 16 Harriet A. Straley, age 13 Valeria Straley, age 9 John served in the War of 1812, and he may have received a land grant for this service. See Muster Roll, Oct 30, 1813, 4th Regiment, Virginia Militia, Capt. George W. Camp's Company muster. John became a Methodist minister in 1833, and he appears to have lived and preached in Bluefield, Princeton and Monroe, WV. His eight children were born in that region. Sarah E.
