"LAMESA - Last rights for Mrs.
Chrystal Lawler, 84, San Angelo, were held at 2 p.m. today in Branon
Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Purkaple, First Baptist Church,
officiating. Burial was in Lamesa Memorial Park.
Mrs. Lawler, a former 51-year resident of Dawson County, died at
11:30 p.m. Sunday in a San Angelo hospital. She had lived in
San Angelo the past 18 months. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include: three daughters, Mrs. C. B. Oakes, Bluff
Dale, Mrs. M. K. Brooks, Veribest, and Mrs. Doris Kirtley, Fort
Worth; a son, John Lawler, Lamesa; three sisters, Mrs. John Windham,
Midland, Mrs. Tom McIntyre, Ralls, and Mrs. Leslie Davis, Lampasas;
two brothers, Charles Straley, Oplin, and H. B. Straley, Lampasas;
13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren." -
I have seen Cleo's name is show as "Clero"
or "Cletus". I am not sure which is correct, but my mother said he
went by Cleo. -
Cleo's parents were Alonzo Judson
Lawler (b. Jul 13, 1849 in Randolph Co, AL; d. Jan 2, 1919 in
Callahan Co, TX) and Mary Elizabeth Alsabrook "Molly"
(b. May 16, 1855 in AL; d. Nov 18, 1936 in Callahan Co, TX). Alonzo
is buried in Tecumseh Cemetery
