Obituary - The Barnesville Enterprise, September 12, 1990, P. 2, Column 4, : James Edward Slevin, 48, of Sarahsville, died suddenly Thursday, August 30, 1990, at Guernsey Memorial Hospital. Mr. Slevin was born August 5, 1942, in Noble County, a son of Mabel Mayberry Slevin of Quaker City, Route 4, and the late Francis K. Slevin. He was employed by Noble Local School District as a bus driver for over 18 years. He was a member of the Noble County Fair Board, the Noble County 4-H Council, and the Ohio Education Association. Mr. Slevin’s death occurred during the Noble County Fair. Symbols of respect were demonstrated in many ways: a moment of silence at various events, the flags were at half-mast, and the directors wore the traditional black band of morning. Mr. Slevin leaves his wife, Cheryl G. Hodge Slevin, whom he married July 3, 1965; two daughters, Janice and Julie, both of the home; three sons, J. C. and Joe, both of the home; and Jerry of Germany; three sisters, Mary Ann Albertson of Mechanicksburg, Maryland; Nancy Wehr of Quaker City; and Cindy Gadd of Byesville; three brothers, Richard Slevin and Tom Slevin, both of Quaker City, and Harry Slevin of Sarahsville. Friends were received Sunday at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home in Caldwell. Services were held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Hiramsburg Methodist Church with the Rev. Marian Glass officiating. Burial was in Village View Cemetery, Sarahsville.
