Page 353) Be it remembered that a regular term of the Hon. the Probate Court of the county of Clarke in the State of Mississippi was begun and held at the courthouse of said county on the 1st Monday in March A.D. 1851. Present: Alex McLendon Judge, I.A. Lyerly Sheriff and A.G. Horn Clerk.
In the matters of the estate of Green B. Gordon dec'd. Upon hearing the petition of Alexander Gordon and Sampson Gordon sons of the said deceased and the court being satisfied that the widow declines, it is ordered by the court that the said Alexander Gordon and Sampson Gordon have granted unto them letters of administration upon the estate of the said Green Berry Gordon deceased, upon their taking the oath prescribed by law, and entering into bond in the form of the statute, in the sum of ten thousand dollars with Rankin Dyess and C.W. Moody as their securities. And the said Alexander Gordon and Sampson Gordon, having this day appeared in open court and taken said oath, and together with said securities, signed, sealed and delivered said bond, said letters of administration to said Alexander & Sampson Gordon are now granted and ordered to be issued and recorded according to the statute. It is further ordered upon motion of pg 354) said petitioners that George Evans, Samuel Hollingsworth & John Adams be appointed appraisers to value and appraise the goods and chattels and personal estate of decedent, and that a warrant be issued in this behalf according to the statute.
In the matters of the same. Upon the suggestion of the administrators of said estate that it would be for the benefit of all parties interested in the lands tenements and hereditaments of Green B. Gordon (deceased) to wit; the W1/2 of NE1/4, E1/2 of NE1/4, W1/2 of NE1/4, W1/2 of SE1/4 & E1;2 of SW1/4 sec. 35 T14 R14E that the said lands should be sold for distribution. It is thereupon ordered that citation issue directed to Rankin Dyess as the natural guardian of his children James M. Dyess and Rebecca Dyess who are entitled to a distributive share of said estate in right of their deceased mother Sarah Dyess formerly Sarah Gordon notifying them to appear at the May term of this court to be held on the 1st Monday in said month, and show cause if any he can why said lands should not be sold as prayed for.

Page 366) It is ordered by the court that Alexander and Sampson Gordon, administrators of the estate of G.B. Gordon dec'd, be authorized to sell all the personal estate belonging to said estate, sale to take place on the 20th of June next.
