Donald W. Reed Sr., age 83, of Concord, died Wednesday,
March 28, 2007, at his home. He was born September 7,
1923 at Banner to Omer John and Iris Otha (Southerland)
Reed. He was a retired truck mechanic having worked for
Julian Martin Trucking in Batesville for several years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Concord.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter,
Kitty Lynn Reed; four brothers, Roland Reed, Johnny Reed,
Garland Reed and Connie Reed; one sister, Dorothy Sapp;
and one grandson, Paul Glenn Reed. Survivors include his
wife, Jewell (Kerlin) Reed of the home; one son, Donald
Reed Jr. of Concord; two daughters, Kathleen Ann Martin
of Concord and Mary Alice Whitner of Batesville; one brother,
Dale Reed of Concord; three sisters, Vera Johnston of Floral,
Deannie Heidelburg of Providence and Oaklan Shelton of Cabot;
seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces
and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held March 31 at the Concord General
Baptist Church in Concord with Bro. Noble Wiles officiating.
Burial followed in the Concord Cemetery with arrangements
by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Wesley Martin, Clint Martin,
Trenton Reed, Matt Dollar, Shawn Brock and Mark Millikin.
Honorary pallbearers were Glen Kerlin and Eric Reed.
