Mrs. Rachel P. Morgan, an aged woman of the Twelfth
District, died last Saturday evening from acute
indigestion followed by heart failure. She had
been sick only a short while. The deceased was
78 years old, a member of the M.E. Church and a
devoted christian woman. She was the widow of the
late A.G. Morgan, by one son, A.J. Morgan and
five daughters, Mrs. W.D. Tate, Mrs. N.E. Laycook,
Mrs. Sam Smith, Mrs. R.A. Crider and Miss Eve Morgan.
She had many friends to mourn her death. The burial
occurred last Sunday afternoon at Palmer's Shelter,
after burial services, conducted by her neighbor, Mr.
Roberts. The bereaved have the sympathy of a large
number of friends.
