Lyonell Halbrook, 83, a lifelong resident of Cleveland,
Arkansas, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at his home.
He was born July 7, 1920, in Cleveland, Arkansas, a son
of Andrew J. Halbrook and Hettie Rhoads Halbrook. Mr.
Halbrook was a retired postmaster for the U.S. Postal
Service, a member of Cleveland United Methodist Church,
a farmer, and a Farm Bureau board member for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Louise Maxwell Halbrook. Survivors include sons, James M. Skipper and wife, Ann,
of Pearland, Texas, and John R. Halbrook and wife, Connie, of
Atlanta, Georgia; daughters, Jeanne Skipper Rentfro and husband, Raymond, of Russellville, Arkansas, Brenda L. Tyler and husband,
Rex, of Appleton, Arkansas, Marinelle Paladino and husband, Sonny,
of Center Ridge, and Sherrye L. Futterer and husband, Bruce, of Russellville; sisters, Hettie Mae Hofherr and Reva Dale Thompson
and husband, A.O. Thompson, all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Jimmy, Louis, and John Skipper, Rebecca Skipper Hickman, Will Jameson,
Jake Tyler, Josh Dalzell, Nell Dalzell Baker, Andrew Tyler Halbrook, and Sarah Louise Halbrook; great-grandchildren, Ky, Josie, Chloe, and Quinn Baker, and Aiden Dalzell; stepgrandchildren,
Doug Tyler, Luke Jameson, Marylee Jameson Lajoie, Joe Futterer,
Katy Futterer, and a large family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Clyde Halbrook, Opie Halbrook, two infant brothers, and sister, Rose Walls. A
special thanks to Starla Mackey for her loving care. Funeral
services were 10 a.m. Saturday, December 27, at Cleveland United
Metho-dist Church. Burial was at Old Liberty Cemetery by Harris
Funeral Home of Morrilton. Pallbearers were his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Roberson, Jerry McCormick, Carl Koone, and Archie Campbell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to
Cleveland United Methodist Church or Old Liberty Cemetery Fund.
