Harold Reginald Gordon, died Oct. 9, 2008 at Haymarket, VA.
A memorial service was held at Haymarket Baptist Church Oct. 18.
Harold was born Aug. 16, 1930 to Joseph Lucian Gordon and Chloe
Belle Paxson Gordon in Center Ridge, Ark. After graduating from
high school, he attended college at Harding University in Searcy,
Ark, but after a year he joined the U.S. Navy. While in the navy
he completed a degree in Electronic Engineering from the University
of Maryland. After retiring as a Master Chief Petty Officer from
the U.S. Navy he joined Hewlett Packard in Atlanta, GA as the Repair
Center Service Manager, Atlanta Office. He moved into Personnel (Training & Recruiting) in 1974 and became the Southern Sales Region Human Resource Manager in 1976. Following his retirement from HP in 1992, he became a Registered Rep. with Waddell and Reed Inc. Financial Services. He and Guerry Myers met in a grief support group in Atlanta and were later married on May 4, 2002. In April
2005 Harold and Guerry moved to Northern Virginia to make their home
near Guerry's daughter. They joined Haymarket Baptist Church where
they began the Outreach Home Touch Program. Harold taught Bible
Study Class and served on various committees before becoming a
Deacon. He is survived by his wife Guerry Graham Myers Gordon, a daughter Cathy Shipp of Starkville, MS, three step-children, Kym Partridge, Hamilton GA, Remmie Miller, Marietta, GA and Guerry Drey, Haymarket, VA; two brothers, Paxson, OK & Robert, TX &
nine grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent
