Occupation: Farmer, Miller, Justice of Peace, Assistant Judge, School Commissioner & served as Home Guard of the Minutemen during Civil War
Military: Enlisted June 10, 1861 in Company C, 5th AR Infantry, C.S.A., as a private.
Married: (1) Nancy Ragsdale about 1846 Conway Co AR. She is the daughter of William & Sarah Ragsdale & was born about 1825 Robertson Co TN, died before 1859 Conway Co AR.
Married: (2) Elizabeth Prince July 26, 1859 Conway Co AR. She is the daughter of Miles Prince & Charity Halbrook & was born 1841 TN, died July 25, 1905 Conway Co AR & buried at Halbrook Cemetery, Conway Co AR. After the death of Alexander Gordon, she married Isaac Bradley Apr 29, 1866 Conway Co AR.

Married: Nancy Elizabeth Reed Sep 5, 1872 Conway co AR. She is the daughter of James Reed & Sarah Elizabeth Smith & was born May 5, 1853 Bradley Co TN, died Oct 22, 1939 Lonoke Co AR & buried at Kilgore Cemetery, Conway Co AR.

2. Feb 17, 1854 Alexander & Nancy Gordon sell 6 1/4 acres of land to Abner C. Morgan (LDS Microfilm #1025763, Vol. 6, pg 103-104)
3. Sep 8, 1858 Alexander Gordon purchased 80 acres of land under the act "An Act to Graduate and Reduce the Price of Public Lands to Actual Settlers and Cultivators", final certifcate issued May 1, 1860. He purchased this land for 75 cents an acre, settling on it Sep 1858. At that time he had a dwelling house, smokehouse & stable on the land. (Homestead Record)

16. July 24, 1860 Conway Co AR census record shows Alexander Gordon age 37, Elizabeth age 37, John age 13, Robert age 11 & Alexander age 4 living in Lick Mountain township. Alexander is a farmer with real estate valued at $500 and personal property valued at $520. (pg 562, #828)
17. Oct 3, 1860 Alexander Gordon is paid $6 for services as assistant Judge. (County Court Records 1856-1860, pg 437)
18. Jan 1861 Alexander Gordon presents a petition of the citizens of Lick Mountain township requesting the Court move the voting precinct to another location. The Court ordered the change. (County Court Records 1861-1868, pg 29)
19. 1861 Alexander Gordon, acting as School Commissioner, requests the Court grant him more time to get his papers in order & is granted the time. (County Court Records 1861-1868, pg 45)

22. July 11, 1861 - The Justices of Peace of the townships in Conway County ordered that not less than one home guard of minutemen be appointed to the various townships. 23. Oct 8, 1862 Alexander Gordon was wounded during the Battle of Perryville KY. The Confederate troops fought in and around the towns of Perryville & Harrodsburg KY. (Civil War Rec)
24. Oct 9, 1862 Alexander Gordon was sent to a hospital in the town of Harrodsburg KY. The record states that after going to the hospital, he was absent. (Civil War Rec)
25. Mar 1, 1864 Alexander Gordon died in Conway Co AR. It's unknown if he died secondary to the injuries received in battle.
26. July 1865 Elizabeth Gordon files a petition in Court to appoint Loval C. O'Barr as administrator of the estate of Alexander Gordon, dec'd. (Probate Bk D2, pg 226)
27. Jan 9, 1866 William Ragsdale requests the Court to revoke the letter of administration granted to Loval O'Barr because of his mis-management of the estate of Alexander Gordon & the Court orders to revoke O'Barr's letter of administration. (Probate Bk D2, pg 226)

31. Oct 1866 William Ragsdale petitions the Court to sell the land of Alexander Gordon & the Court orders that the land may be sold at public auction in January 1868. (Probate Bk D2, pg 292)
32. 1866 Elizabeth Gordon files an application for dower. The Court orders that A.J. Shoemake, John Kissiah & Andy Barnes be appointed as Commissioners to lay out & assign a dower of land to Elizabeth. (Probate Bk D2, pg 297)
33. Jan 1867 Miles Prince files a petition stating that A.J. Shoemake, John Kissiah & Andy Barnes failed to lay off a dower for Elizabeth & Court then appointed P.L. Saylor, Nathan Williams & Marion Shelton as commissioners. (Probate Bk D2, pg 380)
