James "Jim", son of George Crabtree & Lucy Mahan-Yow, was born Dec 25, 1882 AR, died Feb 27, 1980 Plummerville, Conway Co AR & buried at Kilgore Cemetery, Conway Co AR.
Religion: Baptist, Pleasant Springs Missionary Baptist Church.
Occupation: Farmer, Baptist Minister
Cause of Death: Arteriosclerotic Heart Disease & Senility.
Married: Lilly May Tucker Jan 17, 1920 Conway Co AR. She is the daughter of Benjamin A. Tucker & Mary Woodard & was born July 16, 1882 AR, died Oct 12, 1957 Conway Co AR & buried at Kilgore Cemetery, Conway Co AR.

1. July 20, 1900 Conway Co AR census record shows George Crabtree age 61, widower, born Jan 1839 with children William age 21, born Mar 1879, James age 16, born Dec 1883, Lou age 9 born May 1891 & Berlie age 7 born Oct 1892. They are living in Howard township, P.O. Plummerville. George, William & James are listed as day laborers.
2. 1908 - Sample of some items James purchased from the Bird owned store in Birdtown AR: shoes, tobacco, meat, shirt, baking powder, snuff, bottle dental snuff, suspenders, socks. (My copy of store ledger 1907/1908)
3. Apr 18, 1910 Conway Co AR census record shows James Crabtree age 26 living with Melvina Gordon & family on their farm in Union township. (pg 136b, #36)
4. Sep 12, 1918 WWI Draft Registration Card shows James Crabtree was of medium height, medium build, blue eyes & black hair. He was a farmer in the Solgohachia area. His card states his middle name is Irvin but I believe it is initial C which appears on his WWII Draft card.
5. Jan 17, 1920 Conway Co AR census record shows James & Lilly married & living on their farm in Union township. (pg 31a, #126)
6. Jan 21, 1930, pg 2 of the Morrilton Democrat newspaper - "Mrs C.B. Tucker visited her daughter, Mrs Lillie Crabtree Thursday."
7. Apr 2, 1930 Conway Co AR census record shows James age 44, Lillie age 49 & his widowed sister May Rossie age 42 on their farm in Bird township, R.D.#1. (pg 16a, #9)
8. Sep 26, 1930, pg 2 of the Morrilton Democrat newspaper - "Mrs Tom Walker and daughter Mrs Grover Harris and little son Wesley Eugene visited Mrs Lillie Crabtree Monday."
9. Nov 13, 1930, pg 6 Morrilton Democrat newspaper - "Mr and Mrs B.A. Tucker and Mr and Mrs J.C. Crabtree attended church at Pleasant Springs Sunday and was the dinner guests of their grandson and nephew and wife, Mr and Mrs Lester Williams."
10. Jan 1, 1931, pg 8 Morrilton Democrat newspaper - "Tucker Mtn - Mrs. Lou May is visiting her brother, Mr and Mrs J.C. Crabtree."
11. Jan 29, 1931, pg 2 Morrilton Democrat newspaper - "Mr and Mrs J.C. Crabtree and mother, Mrs B.A. Tucker attended church at Pleasant Springs Sunday."
12. May 21, 1931, pg 5, Section 2 Morrilton Democrat newspaper - "Delinquent Tax Sale for the Year 1930. The lands and lots and parts of lots returned delinquent in Conway Co for the year 1930, together with taxes and penalities charge agreeable to law are contained and described in the following list, to wit:" (Note: Many names are listed including J.C. Crabtree in Township 8 North Range 15 West)
13. Sep 17, 1931, pg 2 Morrilton Democrat newspaper - "Tucker Mtn - Mr and Mrs J.C. Crabtree will move this week to Birdtown."
14. Oct 8, 1931, pg 8 Morrilton Democrat newspaper - "Tucker Mtn - Mrs Lillie Crabtree of Birdtown visited her mother, Mrs B.A. Tucker Saturday."
15. Apr 27, 1942 WWII Draft registration card shows J.C. Crabtree as a farmer & preacher living in Solgohachia, Conway Co AR. He is 5'8", 155lbs, brown eyes, gray hair & light complexion.
16. Feb 27, 1980 James died at Riverview Nursing Home in Morrilton, Conway Co AR. Cause of death was Arteriosclerotic Heart Disease and Senility. Informant was I.D. Campbell, Plummerville AR (AR Death Cert)
17. Last residence for James Crabtree was Plumerville AR. The ssn was issued in Arkansas. (SSDI)
18. The Gordon family referred to James Crabtree as a cousin. The only connection is that James' wife was the sister of Carrie who married John Bruce Gordon.
