The Pleasant Springs Missionary Baptist Church seems to be doing good since there is only a few old members there now. The first time I remember seeing Jesse Lee Wilson was in the church men's corner. He was really a good singer and church worker.

Uncle Lee was a dear never to be forgotten Sunday school teacher. I found him in St Louis while I was pastor of Chambers Park Baptist Church. In fact he sang for our services which was grand. He remained with the Associational Baptists until his death.

Jesse Lee Wilson was one of the workers who helped build the Tower Life Building located at 310 S. St Mary's St, San Antonio TX. The building was formerly known as the Smith-Young Tower which was completed in 1929. It is 30 stories high & was the tallest building in San Antonio until 1988. The architects were Ayers & Ayers.
The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. It was originally conceived as part of a larger complex called Bowen's Island Skyscrapers which included the 1927 Plaza Hotel. This project was halted by the Great Depression.
The architectural style is Late Gothic Revival. The building's upper setbacks have gargoyles. It is said that the architect was suspicious of evil spirits & wanted the gargoyles to protect the building during the financial crisis after the stock market crash of 1929.
