The brick home was built in 1809 & is located on Hwy 25 between Springfield & Cross Plains. "Walton designed a square-shaped, two story brick house with a separate kitchen.
The original floor plan consisted of a central hall flanked on one side by a large room and on the opposite side by two smaller rooms; the second floor is of identical design.
A brick chimney stands at each end of the house, and there is a stone-lined basement. Meredith also constructed a substantial brick house on a neighboring farm, but it was razed several years ago."
