*I remember grandma Gordon. She was nearly blind. I used to give her an OB Macaroni box as she wanted to see if she could read it. I used to get her little limbs off a tree & chew the end until it was brushy so she could dip it in her snuff and I chewed her gum for her til it was soft as she had no teeth. I enjoyed that as I got all the sweet part out. She always wore long dresses to her feet & an apron and 2 slips so nobody could see thru her. She seemed to be crazy about me. I guess I stayed around her so much when we went to Arkansas. Mama (Allie Gordon) told me that she had some Indian blood-she didn't seem to know too much about where her parents came from.
*As a small child I'd sit on the porch with her and talk to her and watch her peel potatoes and string beans etc. I loved her very much! I remember when I was about 2-3 years old telling everyone I'd decided to go to church and I'd wave bye to them and say I was going to church. We had to cross a creek. They had stepping stones across it to walk on so not to get your feet wet but I'd step in the water, shoes and all. Boy! they came running after me too and I caught it! I loved to go to church even then.
