Robert came with his parents and brothers & sisters to the Desert community in 1876. The trip was made in a covered wagon. They crossed the Red River at Carpenter's Bluff by ferry.
He was a charter member of the Crossroads Presbyterian Church. He was a deacon and sang in the choir of the Whitewright Presbyterian Church.
He was in the real estate and grocery business in Whitewright for many years.
