I knew him as Laverne - a wonderful, sweet man. He took care of Mt. Olive Cemetery for many years at no cost to the church. Laverne married Elizabeth Elaine Davis - as far as I know her maiden name was Davis. They had a little grocery store about a mile from the church & lived on a fine farm about 10 miles out. The store is still there, I don't know who owns or runs it. Laverne died tragically. He was driving a big farming machine onto a trailer & it flipped, crushing him. After his funeral & burial at Mt Olive Cemetery his dog would sit by the grave & howl. That dog died on his grave.
