*Madison Bluett Chambers' nickname was "Perch". He loved to fish when he was small.
*My grandfather, Madison Bluett Chambers, said he got on his horse one morning and rode off. We assumed he had words with his father, Dr Elias Chambers. He wanted him to be a doctor and he could not handle all the blood & stuff. He had an old desk, doctors bag that was given to him with old bottles etc. It is in one of the grandchildren's homes still. Madison never drove a car and he liked to build things. He became a contractor and built houses, many still standing today in Houston TX. His brother, Charlie Alf, came to Texas to try and find him but did not. The Henry Joyner family lived just across the Tennessee border in Tippah county and Grampa evidently knew Mary Elizabeth Joyner "Molly" because he came to Texas with them in the 1880's and they married in Bowie Co TX in 1885. Bowie county is the entryway to Texas from TN/MS. This is shown in the bible also. All of Henry Joyner's family came to Texas - only the older ones stayed in Mississippi. One of the Joyner children was already in Texas so they joined him in Milam county. Madison was a very gentle kind man, worked hard and was good to his family. He always carried lemon drops in his pocket for us grandkids. My dad was the youngest child born 1899.
