Jesse Lee Wilson & Mary Wilson
1896-1989 ~ 1900-1967
Son & daughter of Samuel B. Wilson

"I think Daddy & her were in an orphans home after his dad died. Then his older brothers got him out & later got Aunt Mary out, that's what she told me when she was older. There were six or seven brothers so they spoiled her good, being the only girl. She fell and hurt her ankle dancing & got TB of the bone in it. She was in a TB hospital in St. Louis for a long time until it was healed. I can remember daddy getting her out on visits. When her leg was healed daddy sent her the money to come to Texas and daddy & mom paid for her to go to school & learn secretary work as a stenographer. Very popular then & she got a job with the American Red Cross & worked there during the depression & lived with us. I remember she used to give me a quarter to clean her bedroom & of course I did. She later married George Morgan "Speedy", a soldier, and after his death she went back to work at the Humane Society. She was crazy about cats & dogs all her life. After I married we moved next door to Mary & "Speedy" in a duplex in Palm Heights in San Antonio. I lost contact with her after we were transferred from the San Antonio area. She was very secretive about how old she was & she'd never tell me. I think she was older than "Speedy". Dad was 2 or 3 years older than her so the birth date of 1900 would be about right. ~ Memories of Edith Wilson-Jackson, daughter of Jesse Lee Wilson
