Pleasant Springs Missionary Baptist Church

The Church was organized on April 30, 1870 & its first charter members were Elias Tiner & 2nd wife Amanda, L. Tiner, Kindness Tiner,
Wesley T. Bryant, Sara Bryant, A. Hood, Susan Hood, Anna Johnson & Elizabeth Honeycutt. The first pastor was Thomas Moody & the first clerk was M.E. Moore.
The church was named after a spring that was located about 1 1/2 miles southeast of the present location. It was organized in a log school house near the springs after which it took its name.
Later it was moved to another house also near the spring, then to the present building. Prior to 1996 the churh had nine of its members ordained to the gospel ministry. They were R.L. Douglas,
J.H. Chambers, Cyril C. Bishop, Homer F. Gunn, J.C. Crabtree, Lester Wright, Harvey Pane & Thomas Bullard. Alexander Bruce Gordon served as church clerk in the year 1883.
