Francis LEE to John WHITTED
pg 239) This indenture made this 7th day of July 1796 between Francis LEE of the State of South Carolina & County of Chester & John WHITTED of the State & County aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Francis LEE for & in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds sterling to him in hand well & truly paid by the said John WHITTED the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained & sold & by these presents doth grant & bargain & sell unto the said John WHITTED, his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying & being in the State & County of Chester aforesaid on the waters of Little River & containing two hundred acres. Beginning on a line SE 82 31.62 box oak corner, SW 3.35.62 red oak corner bounding on land survey for John GUINN & all other sides vacant land when surveyed & hath such shape, form & marks as appear by a plat thereof hereunto annexed. To have & to hold the aforesaid tract of two hundred acres of land be the same more or less together with all & singular the premises thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining unto the said John WHITTED, his heirs and assigns forever & the said Francis LEE for himself, his executors & administrators do covenant agree to & with the said John WHITTED, his heirs, executors, administrators & assigns that he the said Francis LEE, his heirs, executors & administrators will warrant & forever defend the aforesaid tract of land with all the premises & appurtenances thereunto belonging against all claim or claims, demand or demands or in & pertaining unto excepting John CALVIN Sr, heirs. And the said John WHITTED is hereby put intot he actual possession of the aforesaid tract of land two hundred acres of land for him & his heirs & assigns to peaceably & quietly to use possess & enjoy forever. In witness I the said Francis LEE hath hereunto set his hand & offered his seal the day & year first above written.

Personally appeared Gideon WHITTED before me the subscribing justice & gave oath as the law directs that he saw Francis LEE sign, seal & deliver & acknowledge the within written deed of conveyance to John WHITTED & also saw Alexander GORDON sign his name as a subscribing witness to the same. Sworn to & subscribed this 11th day of October 1796. Before Robert OWEN, J.P., Gideon WHITTED, recorded 10th Nov 1796.
