Know all men by these presents that I Alexander GORDON of the State and County aforesiad _ for and in consideration of the sum of twenty pounds sterling to __ hand well and truly paid by Wiley COLEMAN of the same place _ the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and myself am therewith satisfied have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain, sell, make over and deliver unto the said Wiley COLEMAN a negro girl named Cherry three years old to have and to hold the above named negro to him the said Wiley COLEMAN his heirs and assigns forever, futhermore I the above named Alexander GORDON for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators the said bargained negro girl unto him the above named Wiley COLEMAN his heirs and assigns against the just lawfull claims or claims of all persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the first day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety six.
