pg 160) This indenture made this twentieth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty between James EAST of the County of Madison and State of Illinois of the one part and Alexander GORDON of the County of Robertson and State of Tennessee of the other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of twenty eight hundred dollars paid before the sealing & delivering of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said James EAST bargained and sold and by these presents doth bargain sell alien convey and confirm all that tract or parcel of land lying situate and being in the County of Robertson it being the same which said A. GORDON now lives on containing five hundred and ninety two acres the same more or less and bounded as follows viz. Beginning at a post oak about sixty poles East of BARKER's old road opposite to a walnut grove of timber running North to Jesse COBB's corner and with his line two hundred and eighty five poles to a stake thence West two hundred and forty poles to a stake thence South two hundred and eighty five poles to a black oak thence East two hundred and forty poles to the beginning and also another survey adjoining the original beginning at a stake the Northeast corner of a survey granted to Martin DUNKIN where on the said GORDON now lives thence West with the said line two hundred and twelve poles to a hickory thence North forty four poles to two hickories on WILLIS's line thence East with said line sixty eight poles to his corner thence North with said line seventy four poles and a half to a black jack thence East sixty eight poles to a stake thence South seven poles to the corner of another survey belonging to said GORDON continuing with his line seventy four and a half poles to his corner

Also another survey joining the original beginning at a black jack on said GORDON's Northwest corner on WILLIS's line twenty two poles to a post oak on PAISLEY's line thence East with his line one hundred and forty three poles to the corner stake on the line of another survey beloning to said PAISLEY thence South with said line twenty four poles to the corner hickory thence East with his line forty five poles to a black oak in MASON's line thence South with his line fory six poles to a post oak on EDWARDS line thence West with his line sixty seven poles to a black oak thence South with said EDWARDS' line twenty eight poles to a stake the corner of said GORDON's twenty five acre survey thence West with said line twenty poles to a black jack thence North with said GORDON's line seventy six poles to a stake his corner thence with his line one hundred and thirteen poles to the beginning with the appurtenances thereunto belonging to have and to hold the aforesaid land and premises hereby granted unto the aforesaid Alexander GORDON his heirs & assigns forever and said EAST doth for himself, his executors, administrators and assigns doth hereby covenant and agree that he will at all times warrant and defend the said land and premises unto said Alexander GORDON, his heirs & assigns forever
