pg 40) This indenture made this ninth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and four between Lewis BARKER of the State of Kentucky and county of Livingston of the one part & Alexander GORDON of the County of Robertson and State of Tennessee of the other part witnesseth that for the consideration of the sum of five hundred and fifty dollars in hand paid to the said BARKER the receipt whereof is hereby fully acknowledged hath granted, bargained, sold, aliened, conveyed, confirmed & by these presents covenant, bargain, sell, alien convey & confirm unto the said Alexander GORDON his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Robertson containing two hundred acres be the same more or less on Red River beginning at the said BARKERs beginning corner white oak on the State line runs South forty poles to McADOOes line thence West with said line 170 poles to a red __ then South with said line two poles to a stake & small bush marked in said McADOOEs line thence a line agreed on between Joseph McDOWEL on said GORDON North eighty acre and half, East forty seven poles to two spanish oaks, thence South forty East thirty two poles to the Spring Branch thence South seventy two East crossing the said branch forty five poles to a small cherry tree in said BARKERs old plantation, thence North forty five East seventy seven poles to a post oak North eighty one half, East one hundred poles to a stake in the BARRENS, North one hundred and twenty poles to a stake in the State line, thence with the State line South seventy four degrees West four hundred and forty four poles to the beginning with the appurtenances & all rents and profits to him belonging or appertaining to have and to hold the said land and premises hereby granted with the appurtenances unto the said Alexander GORDON his heirs & assigns forever and the said Lewis BARKER for himself his heirs, exrs & admr doth by these presents warrant & defend the said land & premises to him the said Alexander GORDON his heirs and assigns forever, In witness whereof the said Lewis BARKER hath hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal the day & year first above written.

pg 78) This indenture made this 14th day of August one thousand eight hundred and four between James MENEES Sheriff of the County of Robertson of the one part and George GORDON of Livingston County and State of Kentucky of the other part witnesseth that whereas by virtue of a writ of ___ ___ founded on a judgement obtained by George GORDON against John ELLIS issued from the Court of Pleas & Quarter sessions held for the County of Robertson on the third Monday in the town of Springfield and by virtue of the writ aforesaid directed to the Sheriff of Robertson County aforesaid requiring him the said Sheriff to cause to be made the sum to satisfy the judgement aforesaid and a further sum of ___ at office accruing in the suit aforesaid and witness the said James MENEES did in pursuance of the writ aforesaid expose to public sale agreeable to law one tract of land containing 630 1/2 butted and bounded as follows, to wit, Beginning at a hickory white oak & black oak on David DORRIS West boundary line running West 240 poles to two post oaks then South 440 poles to a spanish oak two ___ poles then East 240 poles to a stake then North going to David JAMES Soutwest corner and in his line in the ___ of the land North line 440 poles to the beginning on the __ day of and sell the same to the said George GORDON who was the highest bidder for the sum of fifty one dollars & seventy five cents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. Now the said James MENEES for & in consideration of the premises aforesaid and by virtue of the authority vested in him by law as Sheriff aforesaid doth by these premises bargain, sell, release, convey & confirm unto the said George GORDON all that tract of land contained within the bounds aforesaid with all and singular the rights, privileges, emoluments, hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining to have and to hold the same with the premises aforesaid to the only proper benefit & behoof of him the said George GORDON his heirs & assigns forever against the claim of the said John ELLIS but not otherwise. In witness whereof the said James MENEES as Sheriff aforesaid hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and date above written.
