pg 579) This indenture made and entered into this 7th day of May the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight between Green B. COPELAND and Sarah his wife of the County of Logan and State of Kentucky of the first part and George KING of the County & State aforesaid of the second part witnesseth that the 3rd parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of seven hundred and fourteen dollars to them in hand paid by the said party of the second part the

pg 580) receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained, sold and conveyed and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the 3rd party of the second his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situated, lying and being in the County and State aforesaid on the waters of Red River containing one hundred & two acres and bounded as follows, to wit, Beginning on a black jack corner to a 100 acre survey patented to William TRIMBLE and also a corner to George W. COPELAND 105 acre tract, thence N. 85 E. 37 poles to 2 small post oaks corner to William TRIMBLE, thence on this line N.30 E. 73 poles to 2 post oaks corner to the same, thence N. 65 E. 62 poles to a stake at pointers in __ PROCTER's line, thence on his line N. 16 E. 130 poles to the center of WOOLSEY's Creek, thence down the meanders of the same to F.W. COPELAND's corner in said creek, thence on his line S 8, W. 63 poles to a post oak, thence South 36 E. 23 poles to 2 post oak, thence S. 42 W. 15 poles to a black oak, thence N. 40 W. 10 poles to a red oak, thence S. 5 W. 48 poles to the Beginning to have and to hold the aforesaid land with all and singular the rights, profits, emoluments, hereditaments and appurtenances of in and the same belonging or in anywise appertaining to the only proper use and behoof of him the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever and the said parties of the second part for themselves their heirs, executors, administrators & doth covenant and agree to and with the said party of the first part, his heirs and assigns that the before mentioned land and bargained premises they will warrant and forever defend against the right, title, interest or claim of all and every person whatsoever. We, John PROCTER, Evan McPHERSON, acting Justices of the Peace in and for the Couty and State aforesaid, do hereby certify that the within named Green B. COPELAND & Sarah his wife who are personally known to us this day came before us in the County aforesaid and acknowledged the within deed to George KING to be their act & deed and she the said Sarah COPELAND being by us __ __ and apart from her said husband declared that she did freely and voluntarily sign, seal & deliver the said deed and acknowledged the same __ again __ & explained to her to be her act & deed and __ note to retrace it and consenteth that the same may be recorded. Given under our hands and seals this 7th day of May 1838.
