James ROSS to John MORGAN
pg 13) This indenture made the 7th day of January A.D. eighteen hundred and fifty by and between James ROSS of the County of Carroll & State of Tennessee & John MORGAN of the County and State aforesaid of the other part, witnesseth that for & in consideration of the sum of fifteen hundred dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained, sold and conveyed and by these presents doth bargain and sell and convey to the said John MORGAN a certain tract of land lying and being in the County of Carroll on Simson's Creek waters of Sandy River, Beginning on a large chestnut Northeast corner of a twelve hundred and eighty acre tract of land being a part of a twenty five hundred acre survey conveyed by Thomas HUNT to Alexander MURPHY and by his attorney in fact Thomas A. THOMPSON to Theophilus MORGAN taken out of grant founded on warrant No. 1755 running thence West six hundred and forty poles to a stake on the West boundary line of the said twenty five hundred acre survey thence South 32 degrees East two hundred and forty five poles to a red oak thence South 25 degrees East forty poles to a post oak, thence East one hundred and ninety four poles to a post oak, thence East forty one & a half poles to a post oak, thence North 64 degrees East two hundred and thirty four poles to a white oak in the East boundary line of the said twenty five hundred acre survey, thence North fifty six poles to the Beginning containing five hundred and seventy acres and the James ROSS doth hereby agree to defend the title of said land against all other claims and confer the title to the said John MORGAN, his heirs and assigns forever. In witness wherof I the said John MORGAN, James ROSS have hereunto set my hand, affixed my seal the day and date above written.

Robert B. GORDON to Joseph R. MURPHY
pg 63) Know all men by these presents that I Robert B. GORDON of the County of Carroll and State of Tennessee for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to me in hand paid before the ensealing of these hereof by Joseph R. MURPHY of the same County and State, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted, bargained and sold and do hereby by these presents give, grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said Joseph R. MURPHY, his heirs and assigns forever the following described tract of land or parcel situated in the County of Carroll and State aforesaid on Mud Creek a branch of Sandy Riber and bounded as follow, Beginning at a stake on Thomas DUNN's South boundary line running South one hundred poles to a stake and black jack pointers, thence six and a half degrees North of East one post oak pointers thence North one hundred poles to said DUNN's South boundary line one hundred and sixty poles with said line to the Beginning containing one hundred acres to have and to hold the said granted and bargained premises together with all the privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging to him the said Joseph R. MURPHY, his heirs and assigns forever. And furthermore I the said Robert B. GORDON for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators do hereby covenant unto and with the said Joseph R. MURPHY his heirs and assigns that before the ensealing and until hereof I am the true sole and lawful owner and possessor of the above granted and bargained premises in fee simple that they are free from all incumbrances and that I have full power and lawful authority to convey the same to the said Joseph R. MURPHY in manner aforesaid and will forever warrant and defend the same to him the said Joseph R. MURPHY, his heirs and against the lawful claims and demands of any & all persons whomsoever. In witness whereof I the said R.B. GORDON have hereunto set my hand and seal this the twenty fourth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven.

pg 392) This indenture made this 20th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty nine between Alden GIFFORD of Boston and State of Massachusettes of the one part and John MORGAN of Carroll County and State of Tennessee of the other part, witnesseth that the said GIFFORD for and in consideration of the sum of nine hundred and sixty dollars to him in hand paid by the said MORGAN, his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situated, lying & being in the County of Carroll State of Tennessee containing six hundred & forty acres No. 858 Dist. 12, R 3, S1 - Beginning at the Southwest corner of John IRWIN's 226 acre survey thence running West with the Dist line crossing Rutherford fork of Obion and running to the right in all about three hundred & twenty poles to a stake with a dogwood, two maple & two white oak pointers at the West edge of the bottoms thence North crossing said fork two hundred & thirty six poles runs to the left in all three hundred & twenty poles to a stake with white oak pointers thence East passing the Southwest corner of Calvin JONES 2560 acre survey and with his South boundary line in all three hundred & twenty poles to a stake with two white oak, black jack & poplar pointers the Northwest corner of said John IRWIN's 226 acre survey, thence South with his West boundary line three hundred and twenty poles to the beginning to have and to hold the aforesaid land with all and sinular the rights, profits, emoluments, hereditaments and appurtenances, of & to the same belonging or in anywise appertaining to the only proper use and behoof of the said MORGAN his heirs and assigns forever. And the said GIFFORD for his heirs, executors and administrators doth covenant and agree with the said MORGAN, his heirs or assigns that the before __ land and bargained premises he will warrant and forever defend against the right, title, interest or claim of all and every person whatsoever. In witness whereof the said GIFFORD hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written.
