Tuesday morning January 8 A.D. 1856 Court met pursuant to adjournment present same as of yesterday.
Now on this day it is ordered by the Court that there should be levied and collected from John MURRAY the sum of ten dollars as a tax for the priviledge of keeping a public ferry across the Cadron Creek at his old Ferry Stand near his residence in Cadron township for the term of twelve months from this day by his paying or cause to be paid to the common school commissioner the sum of ten dollars and that he enter into bond to Conway County the sum of five hundred dollars for his faithful performance as such ferryman and by his producing the commissioner's receipt-the clerk to issue a license herein and that he exercise all the priviledges of a public ferryman and it is further ordered by the Court that the following rates be charged, viz.
for crossing wagon & 6 horses or oxen---.75
for crossing wagon & 4 horses or oxen----.50
for crossing wagon & 3 horses or oxen----.50
for crossing wagon & 2 horses or oxen----.40
for crossing carriage with 2 horses------___

Now on this day comes J.G. SMITH and files a claim against Conway County of six dollars for services rendered in furnishing materials for burying Mrs. LOFTIS's child. The Court after due consideration and being advised of the law arising thereon doth reject said claim upon the account of the person not being known to this Court as a pauper.
Washington Township
Now on this day it is ordered by the Court that the road commencing at Lewisburg and running to Glass Village from the Welborn township line to the ford of Point Remove Creek near William FRYER's be and the same is hereby designated as Road District No. One (1) of Washington township and it is further ordered by the Court that Joseph GORDON be and he is hereby appointed Overseer of said road and that the late Overseer (Wm D. McCAIG) is hereby ordered to deliver to the said Joseph GORDON the apportionment of hands heretofore apportioned to him by Henry FRYER Esqr. and that said Joseph L. GORDON is hereby authorized to proceed with said hands to keep up said road according to law.
Now on this day came a petition of diverse citizens of Welborn township and adjacent streets, and prays the court as follows, to wit,

Now on this day comes Moses __ and files his account against Conway County for funeral expenses and taking care of John BELCHER for the term of six months prior to his death amounting to the sum of fifty five dollars and twenty five cents, $55.25, which was examined by the Court and allowed and ordered to be paid.
Now on this day comes John W. WILLBANKS and files his bond as jailor of Conway County which appointment is examined by the Court and approved and ordered to be placed on file.

at the Van Buren County line and running in the direction of Lewisburg to the Washinton township line near J.H. CARROLL? is Road District No. Three of Lick Mountain township and it is further ordered by the court that Hiram ADAMS be and is appointed Overseer of Road District No. Three of Lick Mountain township.
Now on this day it is ordered by the Court that the road commencing at the Van Buren County line and running by James BAKER's to the Union township line and is designated Road District No. Four of Lick Mountain township and it is further ordered by the Court that Miles PRINCE be and is appointed Overseer of Road District No. 4 of Lick Mountain township.
Now on this day it is ordered by the Court that the road commencing at the Van Buren County line and running by Andy BARNES towards Springfield to the Union township line be and is Road District No. Five of Lick Mountain township and it is further ordered by the Court that Andrew BARNES be and is appointed Overseer of Road District No. Five of Lick Mountain township.
And it is further ordered by the Court that Alexander GORDON and Johnson BENNETT Esqrs apportion the hands to the Overseers of Lick Mountain township.

Now on this day comes WILLBANKS & STELL and presents their account against the County of Conway Arkansas for County expenses amounting to $36 dollars and 34 cents the Court after examining the same allowed said account and ordered the same to be paid.
Now on this day comes Jesse V. MORROW and files his account amounting to the sum of $2.00 dollars being for services as assistant Judge at the March term 1859 which account has been examined, allowed and ordered to be paid.
Now on this day comes Alex GORDON and presents his claim to the Court amounting to 2.00 dollars for assisting in holding the March term of the County Court which account is allowed and ordered to be paid.

County Court April 5th 1859
of seventy six dollars and ninety five cents to the Sherriff of Conway County and charge him with the amount on the Auditor Book of Conway County.
Now on this day comes John M. GUESS and presents a petition signed by a majority of the citizens of Union township praying the Court to grant him a license to retail spiritous liquors in quantities less than one quart for the town of Springfield in the County of Conway for the term of twelve months. The Court after due consideration and being fully advised of law concerning the previous order that a license be granted to the said John M. GUESS to retail spiritous liquors in quantities less than one quart in the town of Springfield Conway County for the term of twelve months for the 5th day of April 1859 and by his paying into the County Treasury the sum of twenty five dollars and to take oath prescribed by law & the clerk to issue a license herein.
Ordered that Court adjourn until tomorrow morning 8 o'clock.

to contract for and imploy or contract for the making and hanging good and substance window blinds for the courthouse windows ___ as the ___ blinds & ___ ___ and that none to be ___ are being in a workmanlike manner and to be hung with ___ hinges.
Now on this day comes W.W. EDWARDS and presents his claim against Conway County for the sum of ten dollars being for services as County Commissioner of Public Buildings for March 1858 to March 1859. The Court after due consideration and being fully advised of and __ the __ examined and allowed therein and ordered to be paid.
Now on this day comes J.M. VENABLE and presents his account against the County in the sum of six dollars for services as Judge of the County Court at the next term of this Court which account has this day been allowed and ordered to be paid.
Now on this day comes Jesse V. MORROW and presents his account against the County amounting to the sum of six dollars for services as assistant Judge of the County Court at the present term of this Court which account has this day been allowed and ordered to be paid.

MORRILL and presents his petition signed by the majority of the citizens of Welborn township praying the Court to grant him a license to keep a grocer and retail spiritous liquors in quanitities less than one quart. The Court after due consideration and being fully advised of due consideration and being fully advised of and __ the __ it is granted said petition. Ordered that the said petitioner E.J. MORRILL have the priviledge of keeping a grocery and retail spiritous liquors in quantities less than one quart in the town of Lewisburg for the term of twelve months from the 2nd day of April 1860 due by his paying into the County Treasury the sum of twenty five dollars and producing the Treasurer's receipt for the sum, the clerk to issue a license herein.
