Notes on James Perry Chute and Fidelia Foster Chute:

According to William Edward Chute, James Perry was also known as "J.P.", and is also sometimes recorded with his names reversed, i.e., "Perry James". He was originally a schoolteacher, but took over the running of the family farm in 1886. Fidelia Foster was identified in the Chute Genealogies as "Adelia Chute", but all census records record her as "Fidelia".

Mr. Cunningham, Sarah L., daughter of Stillman Stone, Feb. 29, 1864, and was mustered out in March, 1865; lives in Augusta, Me.; keeps a barber shop; had left leg taken off Aug. 16, 1883."

Notes on George Washington Chute III and Annette Elizabeth ("Annie") Wilder:

WEC: "Lived some in New York State; moved to Leominster, Massachusetts in 1876."

Annette E. Chute applied for a military widow's pension on 17 NOV 1905, under the "invalid" category and again on 30 JAN 1918 under the "widow" category. The pension application stated that George W. Chute had served in the Massachusetts Infantry, 53rd company, during the Civil War. Rank and cause of his death is not recorded on this index entry; it is uncertain whether he died as a result of war injuries incurred or of natural causes.

Research Needed: request copies of both applications.
