One of the more annoying changes to the internet landscape lately has been the proliferation of advertisements being attached by links to ordinary words in every document you read. You'll also see those here (NOT my choice, believe me!), which is extremely frustrating when this entire website consists of links between Chutes and other Chutes, or Chutes and their notes, sources, historical events, etc. Usually, you can see these advertiser's links as underlined twice, but not always. I am truly sorry for this development, and rather disgusted with Ancestry.com for allowing that in their Rootsweb sites. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about it (beyond griping loudly about it to the Powers That Be), until they develop a respect for their own customers, and dispense with the practice. In the meanwhile, pay close attention to the links you see - they may not be mine. Thanks.

CHUTE-OUT! A Chute Family Gathering is Planned! Allen Rae Chute's New Book is available on Amazon.com!

Chute Family - Are you interested in having a FAMILY PICNIC this year? How about July 26 at KELLER REGIONAL PARK? 11:00am, CDT. Address is: 2010 Maplewood Dr, Maplewood, MN 55109.

The CHUTE-OUT will be held in SHELTER #4 on the hill (has electrical outlets). Beer, wine, etc okay (12% alcohol or less). NO PETS. Electrical outlets and water spigot available. Children's playground and flush toilets. [Jackie's note: Sharon has a Facebook page set up for the event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1422451374700000/?ref_dashboard_filter=upcoming, so let her know you'll be arriving. This also appears on the Events Calendar, which I've just updated for the first time in ... ahem ... a while. (Sorry about that!)

We wanted to make sure you got the news that Allen Rae Chute has a new book available on Amazon: The Extraordinary Adventures of an Ordinary Man: One ordinary man's 25 year odyssey as a police officer in America.
Among the readers' comments, "The short stories and adventures Officer Chute writes about will leave you laughing in your seat. One of those books that is hard to put down! I'm looking forward to reading his next book!" If you'd like more information about Allen, visit his website for more information. We should ask Allen if he takes on other clients - how many other Chute authors would enjoy announcing that their book was published by "Shoot Publishing"?

  • An article on The Two Wives of Lionel Chute, published by William Wyman Fiske for NEHGS in their quarterly journal in April of 2009. Response and reactions from Chute family genealogists followed soon thereafter. Again, all Chute family members are encouraged to read and respond. Many of us have seen the record of Lionel marrying Thomasine Barker on the Family History.org website, and generally assumed that Thomasine and Rose Barker were in fact the same person. Do you think author is correct and Thomasine and Rose were in fact two different people?

On the left: #15- Katharine Chute. On the right: #7- Margaret Chute, sister of Katharine. Both are daughters of Edmund Phelps Chute of the Minnesota Chutes; brother Donald Chute is right behind them, also playing forward for The Blake School, where Katharine and Margaret attended prior to Harvard. All three are among the sixteen grandchildren of Frederick Hawley Chute.

Now playing for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks, the school paper reports, "Valerie played for the Fijian National Team and the U-20 team ... averaged 23 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists at the 2005 South Pacific Mini Games, helping her team to the gold medal ... Led Fiji to a gold medal at the 2007 South Pacific Games, averaging 25.7 points per game."
