Born in 1959 to Jesslene Sutterfield-Wood and Charles H. Tankersley, Donald Dwayne Wood was named by his step-father, Donald Wood, Sr. Although his mother, Jesslene was pregnant, Donald Wood insisted Jessie marry him. Don's mother and step-father were divorced 15 years later and at age 45, Don located his biological father, Charles H. Tankersley. Together, Jesslene and Charles have unofficially renamed Don to Jesse Edward Tankersley, thus giving him the nickname of JET.
