Lelant
is situated at the estuary of the Hayle River, 3 miles from St Ives
and was once an important market and port for the area. It's 15th
century Church, St Uny, is dedicated to the Irish saint of that name.
Lelant is a particularly beautiful part of Cornwall. You will
find some photographs of the cemetery and village on this site at
Lelant Photos.
For
general information about Lelant you should visit the
website of Maxwell Adams,
a resident of Lelant, and whose website contains most information
about Lelant that you would ever want to know.
If you have a particular interest
in Lelant for family history purposes and the Penwith area of
Cornwall generally I also suggest you visit (and register as a
member at)
Penwith Genalogy.
