WILL OF ALEXANDER CHRISTIE
The state of South Carolina. In the name of God Amen I Alexander Christie of the city of Charleston in the said state being in indifferent health but of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding praised be to God for the same, do make and declare this my Last Will and Testament in the manner and form following that is to say. I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon as possible at my deceased and for that purpose I do hereby authorize and direct my Executor and Executrix hereinafter named or Such of them as shall qualify on this my will or the Survivor or Survivors of them to sell the whole of my estate both real and personal (except such part of it as may herein specifically devised and bequeathed) Within nine months after my decease and good and sufficient titles or the Conveyances for the same to give and execute after the payment of my said debts and funeral expenses. I give devise and bequeathe to my beloved wife Mrs. Joanna Christie, one share and also a half of a share of the monies or proceeds arising from the sale of my said Estate, and the other two Shares and a half to my three children Joanna Christie, and Elizabeth Christie, and David Lamb Christie, to be equally divided among them, the Said share and a half to my Said wife her heirs Executors and Administrators, and the other two shares and a half to my said three children their heirs Executors and Administrators. I give devise & bequeath to my Daughter Mrs. Margaret Waugh for and during the term of her Natural life and no longer the house and Lot in Legare Street in Charleston where she now resides and from and after her death I authorize and direct my Executors and Executrix or Such of them as Shall qualify on this my Will or the Survivors or Survivor of them within three months after my Daughters death at aforesaid to sell the said house & lot and good and Sufficient titles for the Same to give and Execute the proceeds or monies arising from the Said Sale to divided in to two equal moieties, one moiety of which two moieties, I give devise & bequeath to the Children of my Said Daughter Mrs. Margaret Waugh who may then be living their heirs Executors and Administrators. I give and bequeath to my Said beloved Wife all the Plate and Table and bed Linen, to her, her Executors and Administrators it is my Will that what I have herein devised and bequeathed to my Said wife be in lieu of all claim of Dower She may have on my Estate Lastly I do hereby Nominate and appoint my Said Wife Executrix and my friends James Robertson John McGrath and Henry Shields Executors of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making Void all and every other Will and Wills at any time heretofore by me made And do declare this to be my Last Will and Testament In Witnefs whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal tis Tenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and twenty three Alexr Christie Signed Sealed declared and published by the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence have Subscribed our Names as Witnefses thereto.

This is a Codicil to my above Written Will I omitted to bequeath as I had intended to my Daughter Ann Elizabeth a Negro boy named Dill and to my Daughter Joanna a negro girl named Kati and I do hereby bequeath to them respectively the Said boy and girl to them their Exore. and Admors: Witnefs my Hand and Seal to the Codicil on the other page this tenth July one thousand Eight hundred and twenty three
