WILL OF SUSANNAH CHRISTIE OF EDGEFIELD SOUTH CAROLINA
Susannah Christie filed a will in Edgefield District, South Carolina on 1 February, 1844 . It was signed on 10 August, 1842, and witnessed by T W Trotter, Richard Coleman and G H Smith. In this will she left $25 each to daughters Sarah Turner and Elizabeth Turner, and to the children of her (deceased?) son, William Turner. After this $75, the remainder of here estate was to be given to her three children, viz. Simean Christie, Martha Smith, and Sibby Lowry. The executor was named as “my friend, Joseph Griffith”. Susannah’s estate was sold on 15 November, 1843. Most of the items were bought by J H Smith [husband of Martha Christie] and Johnson Lowry [husband of Sibby (Christie?)]. Smith bought “1 negro by Jack”, Lowry bought “Amy and 2 children”, Josiah Griffith bought two “first choice fat hogs”. Richard Coleman bought 1 tract of land, S. Bouleawar bought one lot of corn James Griffith bought one lot of corn, Matthew Smith bought one horse Robin. In the distribution are listed: S. Christie his distribution share $959.45 John and (Patsy?) Smith their distribution share $959.78 Johnson Lowry and Sibby their share $1,109.78 S. Christie attorney for Elizabeth Turner here distribution share $25.00 Susanah’s estate was appraised on 18 October, 1843 by William Attaway, Richard Coleman, Spencer Boulevard and John (Anack?)
