Documentations:
From Janet Christie:
Robert was at least twenty-one years old when he witnessed the
will of Sampson Pope on July 22, 1788. The Last Will and Testament
of a William "Crostie" was proved in Winton (Barnwell)
county court by John Parkinson and Moses Plummer on
January 18, 1788, according to a notation on page 37
in Winton (Barnwell) County, South Carolina Minutes
of County Court and Will Book 1, 1785-1791 by Brent H. Holcomb
in 1978. In the late 1780's, William Christie appears
several times in Winton County Court minutes.
There were William Christie's in each of the following
six generations that migrated to Georgia and Florida.

Robt Crister is listed in the third row between
George Fluker and Thomas Williams
Robert's first wife (unproven at this time) was Mary Allen,
daughter of Josiah Allen and Elizabeth DeLoach;
Robert "Christey" witnessed the will of Josiah-
probably his brother in law in October of 1796.
Robert Christie is listed as a First Lt. on the
muster roll of Capt. Zachary Smith Brooks Company,
which was a mounted militia, the date is missing on
the document, this notation is found on page 47
in History of Edgefield County, South Carolina
by John A. Chapman, A.M., 1897, in a biography of
the Butler family. Mr. Chapman, a native of
Edgefield County, states, "Robert, I think,
was the father of Simeon Christie, sometime sheriff
of Edgefield District." The plantations of Col. Z.S.
Brooks and Maj. Gen. Wm. Butler are pin pointed
in the 1825 Mills Atlas on each side of Big Creek
on which Robert and Susannah also lived.
According to local DAR registrar, Mary Jane Weaver,
the papers for Robert Christie are closed, indicating
that there is a problem with the information
originally submitted and subsequently printed
in the DAR Patriot Index, Roster of South Carolina Patriots
and Roster of Revolutionary Soldiers in Georgia
and Other States, Vol. 111. The National Archives failed
to locate data on Robert for me. His wife did not apply
for a pension in either 1832 or 1840 possibly because
Robert may not have served a total of six months.
NOTE:(From Cookie) I have found a notation of payment
made to a Robert Christie in NC revolutionary war.
Also, recently found Robert Christie mentioned
as a wagon master in the Revolutionary War papers of
Zachariah Hester of NC in 1777 apparently on way to
Halifax NC where Christie family lived.
On April 15, 1789, Benjamin Tutt and Barbary, his wife,
sold to Robert Christie for 30 pounds 135 acres
which was granted on August 31, 1774.
The land was located on Indian Creek which was a branch
of the Little Saluda River. The deed was witnessed by
Gabriel Tutt and James Tutt. They swore an oath on
October 10, 1789 in front of Russell Wilson, JP
(Edgefield County Deed Book 1, pages 146-151)
On February 2, 1793, Charles Dean boundary map of 200 acres
adjacent to Robert Christie, John Dean, Joseph Stewards,
Robert Davis, and Thomas W. Waters in Edgefield
District South Carolina.
On October 10, 1793, James Minge Burton sells 250 acres
to Hezekiah Gentry for one hundred pounds sterling,
which was part of 1200 acres which was originally granted
to Peter Whitten on April 21, 1775 by Lieutenant
Governor William Ball on Indian Creek of Saludy
River which is adjacent to William Waddell,
Thomas Green, James Petty, Micajah Corley, Nathan Melton,
Thomas West and from Whitten conveyed to William Cobb,
from him to James Burton, adjacent Robert Christy
crossing Indian Creek and the Little Saludy River.
Witnessed by Jessie Samford, Zacheus Corley, and Mary Samford.
Robert Christie witnessed the adjusted apportionments
on April 5, 1796 that divided up land owned by the
estate of Jacob Pope to Sampson, Elijah and George Pope.
The trustees were Susannah Pope and hezekiah Gentry
along with Robert.

Robert Christey with his mark, and Aaron Etheridge witnessed
the will of Josiah Allen in Colleton County in October
of 1796.
Edgefield County Bond Book 18, page 338.
Robert Christie sold 50 acres for fifty pounds on
November 1802 to Lewis Etheridge Jr. The land was situated
on Dailys Creek and the Little Saluda River,
which was adjacent to Lewis Matthews and Stephen Spencer,
and part of acreage that had belong to Robert Christe.
Lewis Matthews and Mary Christie were witnesses.
Edgefield County Deed Book 23, page 11
A month later, on December 1, 1802, Robert Christie
sold to Lewis Matthews for 200 weight of tobacco
58 acres being part of a tract of 558 acres which
was granted to Robert Christie on November 26 , 1791
on Daily Creek which was a branch of the
Little Saluda River. The acreage was bounded by
John Ewen Cothran, and witnessed by Lewis Etheridge
and Mary Christie. This was proven in court on
