Vic's Danish History

The information provided by Vic is:  Carl Victor Christiansen (Vic) was born on the 11th January 1904 in Svendborg, Denmark.  His father's name was Kai Wilhelm Christiansen, and Kai was a tailor.  Vic's mother's maiden name was Agnes Christophersen.  There are no dates and places of birth for Kai or Agnes, nor are their marriage details available.  Vic also stated that his brothers and sisters were:  an older, un-named, brother; Kai Wilhelm; Agnes; Sven; Einer; Vera Viola; Ella May; and Ebba.

Vic and his family moved to Odense when he was about 3-4 years of age (i.e. 1907-1908).  Vic left school when he was 15 (1919) and worked as a cook-deck boy on a sailing ship for a short period.  He was later apprenticed to a cabinet maker in Copenhagen where he undertook both technical college and evening classes.  It was during these evening classes that Vic entered a competition on the subject of travel; where he would like to go, and why.  Vic wrote about Canada.  The essay must have been well written as he won the competition.  However, Canadian sponsors could not be found, instead, a Danish parliamentarian who was impressed by the story, arranged passage to Australia as he (the parliamentarian) had a son in Western Australia.

However, the person I am researching could be:  Viggo Marinus Christiansen, born in Odense, on 11th January 1903.

Viggo's father is:  Frits Frederik Kristiansen, born in Hamburg, Germany, on 21st October 1872.  Frits was a tailor.

Viggo's mother is:  Nielsine (Sine) Andrea Hansen, born in Odense, on 9th September 1875.

Frits and Nielsine were married in St Knud's Cathedral, Odense, on 7th November 1895.

Viggo's brothers and sisters are:  Mads Christian Aage Christiansen, born in Odense on 26 Feb 1896, died 27 Nov 1918 (Age 22); Agnes Gerde Christiansen, born in Odense on 18 Sep 1898; Kai Vilhelm Christiansen, born in Odense on 04 Feb 1901; Otto Ejner Christiansen, born in Randers on DOB 13 Oct 1904; Svend Oskar Christiansen, born in Aarhus on 24 Sep 1906, died 26 Aug 1919 (Age 12); Kurt Emil Christiansen, born in Odense on 15 Jan 1909, died 12 Nov 1909 (Age 10 months); Helga Ella Christiansen, born in Odense on 09 Jun 1910; Vera Viola Kristiansen, born in Odense on 22 Oct 1912, died 08 Mar 1957; and Ebba Ragnhild Christiansen, born in Odense on 15 Dec 1913.

There is evidence that Viggo was working as a cook in Gothersgade 175, Copenhagen, in January 1919.
