He later served as Trumpeter in Capt. Moses Seymour's Company, Major Sheldon's regiment of Light Horse. they marched Oct. 25 1776. This command accompanied Gen. Washington on his retreat through New Jersey in Dec. of 1776, and was discharged Dec. 24, 1776. He also served in Capt. James Stoddard's company. Gen. Waterbury's Sate Brigade. He joined this company May 4, 1781. This Brigade was raised for the defense of the sea coast from Horsneck to New Haven.
