Note:  William Todd embarked from Glasgow on the good ship Pearl . After a stop in Cork , Ireland to pick up some Protestants, he proceeded to Charleston Harbor in 1767. He was in his 20's.  William ended up in what is now Conway , SC.  The Bethlehem Church Cemetery in Conway has a very large graveyard and fully one quarter of the gravestones say “Todd”.

Recently, major differences have emerged in DNA test results among descendants of the book's cited descendants of Joseph Todd. Currently, two distinct DNA groups have emerged. DNA results match for descendants of two of the three brothers, James B. and William Thomas, but the DNA results for descendants of brothers, James B. and William Thomas do not match the DNA results of descendants of their brother, Benjamin III.

 

If anyone has further documentation independent of "Descendants of Joseph Todd of Eling" that will further document lineages of James B. or William Thomas to Joseph Todd, sharing that information will do much to advance research.

The book, 'Descendants of Joseph Todd of Eling' by Glenda F. Dobbs, is a major reference in Todd research and cites among others descending from Joseph Todd two brothers, James B., Williiam Thomas:

Recently, major differences have emerged in DNA test results among descendants of the book's cited descendants of Joseph Todd. Currently, two distinct DNA groups have emerged. DNA results match for descendants of two of the three brothers, James B. and William Thomas, but the DNA results for descendants of brothers, James B. and William Thomas do not match the DNA results of descendants of their brother, Benjamin III.

 

If anyone has further documentation independent of "Descendants of Joseph Todd of Eling" that will further document lineages of James B. or William Thomas to Joseph Todd, sharing that information will do much to advance research.
