This is the tomb wherein lies interred the famous Kharib(i.e., foreigner) Khojah Johanness, the son of Margar, an Armenian from Julfa in the country of Shosh.  He was a considerable merchant, honoured with the favours of Kings and of their Viceroys. He was handsome and amiable and had travelled north, south, east and west, and died suddenly at the City of Hughly in Hindustan on the 27th November 1697, and delivered up his soul into the hands of the Angel and rested here in a foreign land seeking his home.  the end of the world will come, the Cross will shine in the East, the trumpet of Gabriel will be blown suddenly at the middle of the night, the judgment seat will be set for the Bridegroom to come and sit thereon, (who will say) "Come, ye, blessed of my heavenly Father."  And this Khojah Johanness will then act just like the five wise virgins and likewise keep himself in readiness to enter into the sacred nuptial chamber which the righteous inherit to the right of the saints.
Oh, ye who may come across this tomb, pray for him earnestly and God may have mercy on your parents and on me, the Rev. Gregory, who am a Native of Erivan.  And here endeth the inscription.
AQVI IAZ JOAO

Petrus Catchick.
This brass tablet with a long inscription in ancient Armenian verse was placed at the foot of the altar of the church and at the entrance tot he tomb of Petrus Catchick [it is called tapandadoor], which means the door of the tomb.  According to the inscription, the table was placed by Mirzajan, the brother of the deceased, to commemorate the extensions which had been made to the church by Petrus Catchick, who had been an eminent merchant for 25 years, was very learned and incomparable (khist gitoon yev an-nman) who departed this life, at the age of 38 years on the 5th day of July 1734, leaving his weeping and disconsolate brother, Mirzajan, to mourn his loss.

On the floor of the chapel a small marble tombstone bearing the short inscrption, in Armenian, which can be translated thus

"This is the tomb of Petrus, the son of Catchick, who died in the year 119, on the 5th Nakha".  That is the 5th day of July 1734.
