I am excited to bring you this page. The spelling of Sentee/Santee has been mind boggling for some time now. With the newly updated information I decided this was the appropriate time to introduce you to our corrected information so graciously given to us by Greg Hunt! As more information becomes available it will be posted here.

For anyone working on the Sentee/Santee family: You have come to the right place. Greg Hunt of Idaho actually cracked the case. Here is a copy of the information found by Greg Hunt and also the sources:
First of all, Rebecca Ann Sentee's last name is Not Sentee, but "Santee". I, Greg Hunt, said it first! Sentee is wrong. Santee is correct.

Cracking this case wasn't all that hard, but you have/had to be sharp to recognize clues to/from the past as they present themselves. Note: I had to use 4 Censuses to crack this case, and I'll shed light (later) on which ones (Censuses), and where, that led me to the solution.

As promised, here are the Census source references that I used to solve the Rebecca Ann Sentee/Santee mystery. The steps I took were as follows:

I. 1880 Census: Joseph and Rebecca Yenneº: This gave me Oliver Santee, the Nephew, for starters. (Greg Hunt’s research).
II. 1870 Census: Thomas and Catharine Santee¹: Gave me the father of Oliver (and sibling to Rebecca Ann “Sentee”), which then gave me two pieces to an unsolved puzzle. I now knew Rebecca Ann (Sentee?) and Thomas Santee, along with their ages, birthplaces, and birth state. (Greg Hunt’s research).

III. 1850 Census: John and Nancy Ann Santee² ³: Gave me Rebecca Ann and Thomas Santee living together, under one roof, each at the right age, in the right state, and at the right timeframe. (Greg Hunt’s research).

IV. 1860 Census: John and Nancy Ann Santee² ³: Gave me name clarification on Rebecca Ann Santee’s siblings and her parents, too. (Greg Hunt’s research).

The end result:

All persons above are reportedly born in either PA or VA, but the 1850 and 1860 Censuses have two disagreements; particularly with the birth place of father John Santee and child Theodore P., as to which person was born in PA or VA. So, John and Theodore's birth state needs to be clarified. (Greg Hunt's research).
