Deceased Name: Mary Elinore Stewart Champie
Mary Elinore Stewart Champie was
born Oct. 10, 1916, in Prescott to Clarence and Lola Stewart.
She was raised on a family cattle ranch, The Cross Triangle in
Williamson Valley. She attended Sacred Heart and Prescott High
School.
Elinore married Lawton Champie
at a rodeo in Globe, Aug. 24, 1937. They were owners of the
LC Ranch in Castle Hot Springs until 1975.
Elinore was a member of the
Arizona Cattle Growers, Yavapai Cattle Growers, Yavapai
Cow Bells and a charter member of the Lady Elks in Wickenburg.
Left to carry on the traditions
are: a brother, Bill Stewart of Wickenburg; a daughter Ibbie
Champie of Yucca; a grandson, Lawton Cavalliere of Yucca;
granddaughters, Connie Jenson of Wickenburg and Codie Blunk of
Chino Valley; and eight great-grandchildren.
Saturday Jan. 11, 2003, Elinore
moved up to a higher pasture to ride with Lawton, family and
friends.
Services will be held 11 a.m.
Saturday Jan. 18 at Menke Funeral Home 12420 N. 103rd Ave.,
Sun City. A reception will follow at the Wickenburg Elks
Lodge, 122 N. Frontier St. Wickenburg. Mrs. Champie’s
remains will be cremated and interred in the Champie
cemetery in Castle Hot Springs.

Deceased Name: Agnes Delores Champie
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, near the former
family home in Moses Lake, Wash., for Agnes Delores Champie, who died of
emphysema Nov. 12, at age 67.
Mrs. Champie was born May 22, 1931, in Clovis, N.M. Her maiden name was Kriner.
She moved to Portland and then Damascus in 1963, and to Oregon City in 1977. She
was a waitress for Lani Louie's in Milwaukie for 22 years until her retirement,
in 1991. In 1947, she married George E.; he died in 1978.
Survivors include her sons, Arthur D*., George D. and Charles J., all of Oregon
City; daughter, Sandra J. of Langley, British Columbia; brother, Richard Kriner
of Gladstone; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the American
Lung Association. Arrangements are by Holman Hankins Bowker & Waud Inc.

Champie, The Rev. Ting R., 78, of Black Mountain, N.C., formerly of Wichita and
Pittsburg, retired minister, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1993. Memorial service 3:30
p.m. Sunday, First Christian Church, Black Mountain. Survivors: wife, Marthajane;
son, Paul of Black Mountain; daughters, Carlene Martin, Joy Sebring, both of

Deceased Name: George David Champie
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, in Grand View
Baptist Church in Beavercreek for George David Champie, who died Nov. 28 at age
53. Mr. Champie was born Sept. 22, 1949, in San Bernardino, Calif. He moved to the
Portland area in the early 1960s and later lived in several locations until
returning to the Portland area in 1987. He was a baker until retiring because of
poor health. Survivors include his sisters, Sandra and Isa; and brothers, Charles,

Deceased Name: Raymond M. Champie
Raymond M. Champie of Renton died of a stroke May 3, 2001, at the veteran's
hospital in Seattle. He was 79. Born Feb. 28, 1922, in Ellensburg, he graduated from
Ellensburg High School in 1941 and was a veteran of the Korean War. He lived in the
South County area for 40 years. Mr. Champie retired from The Boeing Co. as a sealer. He
also worked in Alaska. He was preceded in death by his brother, Owen Champie in 1989,
and sister, Ayleen Haydel in 1997. He is survived by his brothers, Robert Champie of
Seattle and James Champie of Yakima; sisters, Florence Bender of Ellensburg, and Lois
Nist of Auburn. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Fall City Cemetery
in Fall City. Memorials may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Arrangements are by
Personal Alternative Funeral Services in Kent.

Deceased Name: Alfred F. Champie
"Death Takes State Pioneer"
WICKENBURG, Feb. 11--Little more than a month after celebrating
a 60th wedding anniversary, A.F. Champie, 80-year old Arizona
Pioneer, was taken by death in his home here this morning.
Services will be conducted in Wickenburg at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Burial will be in the Wickenburg Cemetary.
The Champies celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last
Christmas day. Mr. Champie was bedridden at the time. His wife,
Nettie, is 78 years old.
Mr. Champie came to Arizona in 1888 from Texas. He was married
four years earlier in San Antonio. He settled first in Yavapai
county, engaging in mining and cattle raising. A Phoenix resident
from 1908 to 1918, he moved to Wickenburg where he lived until
his death.
Also surviving are nine children, Mrs. Carl Roeser, Phoenix;
Mrs. James Walker, Pasadena, Calif.;Mrs. R.F. Schaefer, Tucson;
Mrs. James Mohme, San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. George Gemmell,
Wickenburg; Mrs. Joe Lieber, Los Angeles, Calif.; Alfred C.
Champie, Wickenburg; Russell Champie, Nevada City, Calif.; and
James Champie, on furlough in Wickenburg after service in the
Philippines with the Seabees.
