(Research):Good Day Sandi 8/2006 My name is Carolyn Swartzendruber, I have been researching both my fami ly and my husbands family for some time. I came across your postings f or Aden and John Carey, also your posting for Kenneth Grube Pence. My hus band was basically raised for most of his young years in the househo ld of John Carey. My husband Gary was the Grandson of Ella Leota LaPor te who was John Carey's housekeeper for several years. John married El la in their older years. He was ailing and wanted to be sure Ella was car ed for. I would be interested in whether or not you can tell me if the Ca rey family and Pence family were joined somewhere in your family tre e. My mother-in-law was the daughter of Kenneth Pence and Ella Leota LaPo rte. On her birth certificate kenneth's name is there as father. No o ne would ever tell my mother-in-law about her father, where he was or anyt hing about him. He was paid a good some of money by Ella's father to dissa pear. Grandpa LaPorte would only say he took care if everything and nev er mention it again.John Carey was not close with his family only with h is brother Aden. Aden and Addy died in an auto accident. I will ha ve to look for the year of the death. I did meet their daughter Eleano ra once or twice at funerals. It appears John Carey took Ella in aft er he knew what happened and provided a home for Ella and her daughter Vir ginia. At least it would put an end to a puzzle. My husbands mother Virg inia lives in Washington State now and suffers from several ailments. I w ould help for medical purposes to know whether her illnesses are genet ic or not.We only are looking for information, not to bother anyon e. If you have any info regarding John Carey or Kenneth Grube Pence it wo uld be greatly appreciated.
My husbands family always lived around Bellefontaine and Ella and John liv ed in SpringHills Ohio. That is where John was living when he died. Sprin ghills. Last we were there the house was still standing. Sincerely Carolyn & Gary Swartzendruber I can be e-mailed at crs181@msn.co m
