Source: Champaign County Cemeteries VOL I Compiled 1955 Urbana Chapter DAR. Copied by Mrs Edgel Lutz, Mrs Carl Pooler, Mrs John Summers, Mrs Nelson Stallsmith and Mrs Charles Russell. Posted with permission of Urbana Chapter DAR. NOTE concerning DAR readings: DAR was tasked with certain things to identify.  They normally did not write down children, infants or single individuals.  Their objective was married people and those who served in the military.  That is why many of the readings differ so drastically from other readings done later.  However, some of the DAR representatives “read the whole cemetery”.  Again, they did not use interment or lot records and were subjective at their writings. Please be aware there are dozens of inaccuracies and dis-information from these readings.

Photographs and listings may not reflect all burials within the cemetery.   This site list may not be from the records of Karen Heber.  This site is a compilation of several authors by the site owner. Karen Heber utilized a photographic reading and internment records to 2010 of the cemetery which may not be reflected with the data on this site.   Photographs are current thru June, 2010.  Plat maps were utilized by Karen Heber in the sectionalization of the cemetery .  CD and Book format of this Cemetery  are available for purchase.  All proceeds will be donated for cemetery preservation and restoration projects. For more information on this cemetery or to purchase a cd/book please contact Karen Heber at gapeachprtnerz@bellsouth.net

Photographs taken by Karen Heber April 2008

This cemetery is on private property

There were discrepencies with the DAR reading in 1955 and 1982 reading and the 2008 reading with photographs.

Township in March 2008 only had the above DAR reading as the burial records for this cemetery. Township trustee’s were provided updated information in May of 2008.

Notes from Karen:

photographed by Karen Heber in March 2008.

Markers were photographed after restoration was completed.

Notes for cemetery as of April 2008

Note 1: Mary Ann Houser has a marker in Spring Grove Cemetery.  There was no marker for her in this Bodey Cemetery.  Due to death date, no burial records exist.  This stone appears to be reset in the newer section 8 of Spring Grove next to an erected monument of Lewis and Margaret.  Resources could not be verified if Mary Ann was re-interned to Spring Grove.  But it is a very old marker for this section of Spring Grove Cemetery.(picture of marker taken in April of 2008 in Spring Grove Cemetery along with Erected monument)

Note 2: There is a monument erected in Spring Grove in 1977 for Lewis and Margaret Bodey.  A marker exists for Lewis in Bodey Cemetery, but a marker could not be found or identified for Margaret  (She is referenced as being buried in Johnson Township on the marker in Spring Grove)

Note 3:  There is an infant Bodey stone unreadable below infant son  not listed in the 1955 DAR reading or the 1982 reading my Denise Mahan-Moore.

Note 4:  There is a Maria Bodey marker.  The marker is unreadable except for the name Maria Bodey. (listed in 1982 reading by Denise Mahan-Moore not in DAR reading of 1955)

Note 5:  No marker identified or found for Infant Pressler

Note 6:  No marker identified or found for Elizabeth Pressler

Note 7:  Marker found of infant son unreadable. (this could be the Pressler infant identified in 1955 reading)

Note 8: No marker identified or found for Isabelle Bodey  age 22yrs 8m 13d (resource 1982 reading by Denise Mahan-Moore.  Not listed in 1955 reading)
