JACOB STEER: Want info on his whereabouts and origin before 1783 and before living in Western Pa. Known facts include: (1)paid taxes on 50 acres in Mount Pleasant Twp,Westmoreland Co,Pa in 1783 and 1786. (2)His 1803 will listed 3 children, Conrad, Barnett, and Cathrin. (3)He died 1815. (4)His son Conrad appears in Zion Lutheran Church of Donegal, Pa. (5)1800 census lists him over age of 45. Records with the surname of Stier, elsewhere as Steer. Search of all known name variations have so far failed (Steer, Steere, Steir. Stier, Stehr, Stoehr, Stayer). No luck with Quaker Steere, German mercenaries, or ship records.
SAMUEL STAIRS: Want info on his burial place and wife's maiden name. Known facts include: father and mother were Conrad and Catherine Steer and was born in 1811. Children include Catherine, Caroline, George and James. Paid taxes in Mount Pleasant Twp, Westmoreland Co, Pa. Lived on Chestnut Ridge and Ridgeview. Enlisted as private in Company C, 1st Regiment at Pittsburgh; served 1846-1848. Died about 1864.
CHILDREN OF JAMES W. STAIRS: Want to trace his descendants on the hope they have info on his parents, Samuel and Elizabeth. His immediate heirs were Elmer and Homer Stairs and Lydia Anne Lowry. His executor was Herbert Lowry of Scottdale,Pa, likely husband of Lydia Anne. His wives were Maria Gongaware and Sarah Fisher. He lived in Hempfield Twp and Scottdale, Westmoreland Co, Pa. He last lived in Bullskin Twp, Fayette Co, Pa. when he died in 1913.
ELIZABETH O. STAIRS: Where is she buried? Where is East Greensburgh? Was Latrobe, perhaps once called E. Greensburg? Who is buried next to her family? She died in East Greensburgh September 1889 of typhoid fever. Two of her ten children died in November, her husband George died in December. The husband and two children are buried together in the Ridge Churches Union Cemetery in Trauger, Pa. A 4th marker is labeled Elizabeth Orose 1813-1903. The dates are wrong for Elizabeth O. Stairs. Maybe it is George's mother, Elizabeth. The Stairs Family lived principally in Mammoth or Ridgeview, Mount Pleasant Twp, Westmoreland Co, Pa. They had just moved to East Greensburgh before their deaths. Her father was Abraham Summy, a Brethren Minister. George's father was Samuel Stairs. They were both born about 1850.
JOHN, WILLIAM AND NATHAN MONTICUE: Want info on descendants and family tree of Monticue Families of Caroline Co, Md. Nathan has been traced back from the Monticues of Donegal Twp, Westmoreland Co, Pa., but his father has not been identified. These three Monticues appear in the 1810 census for Caroline County. All the Monticues seem to have left Caroline County before end of the 19th century. A lot of Monticues have been identified up until that time, but only three generations of one family has been pieced together, that of William and Ann (nee Jadwin) Mounticue. He was born before 1710 and died about 1770. They were married 1727. See "The Maryland Monticues".
FREDERICK KREGER: Want info on his place of birth. According to the census he was born in Hannover about 1802. He came to America in the 1830s with his father, Henry and other family members. He had a brother, Henry, who was reported missing in the Battle of Waterloo. He settled in Lower Turkeyfoot Twp, Somerset Co, Pa. He married Ann Uphouse and had children Henry, John, Joseph, Elizabeth, George and Frederick. He died in 1883.
CHARLES WINGENROTH: Would like any info. Born in Passau. Bavaria in 1850. He came to America about 1852 with his parents, William and Lysetta. Raised a family and made his fortune in Broadford, Pa. (Near Connelsville) in the coal and coke business in the late 1800s.Later moved to Belle Vernon, then Erie, Pa. Where he owned hotels. He married Eliza Ann Dunseth. They had ten children: Jennie, Susan, Rosa Blanche, Harriette, Nan, William, Edward, Charles and Oliver.
LEPLEY: Want name and origin of a Lepley born in Germany and immigrated to Eastern Pennsylvania between 1750 and 1770. He had three sons. Michael was killed at Bloody Run (Everett, Pa.) By indians. Jacob, who had seven sons and four daughters, moved to Ohio. Adam, who was born in Germany 1753, settled in Somerset Co, Pa. Adam and the descendants of Adam are written-up in the History of Bedford, Fulton and Somerset Counties of Pa.
