648. Gent. Richard FOOTE Jr. was born on 31 Jan 1666 in Cornwall, England.33 He spent a year in England, after death of father in 1699 in London, Middlesex Co., England. He commissioned a Justice of Stafford on 30 Sep 1701 in Stafford Co., VA.185 He was named in the Power of Attorney from Richard Foote, Gent. of St. Paul's Parish to his son Richard Foote, Jr. on 2 Feb 1724 in Stafford Co., VA.108 He signed a will on 15 Apr 1724 in Stafford Co., VA.183 He died on 21 Mar 1725 in St. Paul's Parish, Stafford Co., VA.186 Note: Stafford County was named for the English county. It was formed from Westmoreland in 1664. Its area is 271 square miles and the county seat is Stafford. Population 16,876. Stafford County Minute Book which covers the time period of the Missing will books shows 1724/25 as date of death. The first of the Foote Family to settle permanently in VA. He came to Virginia toward the end of the seventeenth century and settled in Stafford Co., VA, where he died, as is recorded in St. Paul's Parish registry. Owing to the destruction of the records of that county, but little else can be learned concerning him. His will was dated Apr. 15, 1724, and though it was destroyed, is cited in a deed from Thomas Booth, Jr., of Gloucester, and Richard Foote, of Stafford, Prince William County Sept. 8, 1734, and in another dated Nov. 1762, and recorded in Fauquier County, from Richard Foote, of Stafford. Four of the sons of George Foote, deceased, whereas hereto fore many years ago George Brent, Robert Bristow, Nicholas Hayward and Richard Foote, grandfather of the first named Richard Foote, party to these presents obtained a patent from the then proprietor of the Northern Neck of Virginia for 30,000 acres of land known by the name of Brent Tract as by the said patent may fully appear and whereas at the death of said Richard Foote the patentee’s undivided fourth part of the said Brent Town land descended to his son Richard Foote, the father of the first named Richard, who having been seized of the said undivided fourth part in his demise as of fee simple made his last will & testament in writing.
